The real work of the US Court system is handled at the district level where there are over 650 district judges scattered across the US in major cities.

These judges are the ones to watch as they can go rogue and issue opinions that make you want to scratch your head and head to the nearest appellate court to review their actions. (See the judge that must be on speed dial to get to issue an injunction on the Trump administration) Some of them are ate up with TDS and others have the opposite of TDS.

The biggest hurdle in reforming bad judges is that they are appointed for life and have no recourse on any bad judicial decisions they make unless they break the law outside of their judicial purview. Then it would be up to the house to impeach and the senate to vote to convict.

Impeachment is simple a house majority vote, but all that an impeachment is like getting a write up at work you did something wrong. The Senate’s power to convict comes with the tall order of getting a 2/3 vote or 67 Senators to vote for conviction which is only a vote to remove them from power, and not criminally charging them with a crime.

Besides the issue of lifetime appointments and no major consequences for doing a poor job as a judge, the appointment process is just as bad with the Senate holding up appointments with blue slips stalling certain judges appointed by one party because a Senator in a blue state may not like a Trump appointed judge. While the no balls Republican Party senators will roll over to any Democratic appointed judge in a red state with little opposition.


Then you have the appellate court level where cases can be re evaluated and act like mini supreme courts where a group of judges will listen to the case and arguments and issue an opinion. Some cases are first heard by a committee of judges on the circuit and if either party disagrees with the opinion the case can be appealed to the full circuit panel for their opinion.

After the circuit court rules that is when the Supreme Court steps in to hear the same arguments and issue an opinion or ruling. That is usually final, but in this political climate, some judges even ignore the Supreme Court.

Trump should do it now.

And fire the ones that can't pass a basic biology test.
