Not one bit of that is constitutional, voting is left up to the states, and Washington DC statehood would require an amendment.

Where in the Constitution does it say, make it incredibly hard for American citizens to vote? Why do you think it will destroy America to let citizens voice their opinion through voting?

Do you honestly think voter suppression is American?

Where in the Constitution does it say we should make it easy to vote?

A healthy person should have to carry their arse to a voting booth. Only the truly physically limited should be able to absentee vote.

Lazy voters who can just mail it in are how you wind up with radical extremists like Warnock.

If you’re too lazy to go to a polling place and vote, I don’t want you voting.

Ummmm...nah.

Try again.

One year footnote*

And not a single one of these people were so restricted as to keep them from pushing statues over, burning businesses, looting targets, buying up all the TP, etc.

Just with everything thing else, its all just a convenient excuse.

Oh ok.... so you’re expecting the pandemic to be around for EVERY election cycle moving forward???

I have seen some REALLY dumb posts over the years... but you have achieved moronic levels if you don’t understand how this law would turn the USA into Kalifornia.

If you feel like you need to be ruled over, there are thousands of tin-pot socialists and dictatorships around the world.

Find one... move there... but don’t try to subjugate me and others in the process.

Let's be sure to make this one bite them in the arse.

Propose legislation that allows 16 year olds all adult rights except contracts. I.E., drinking, smoking, guns, etc., and these same 16 year olds get to vote on it!!!

it was passed in the House and blocked in the Senate in the last Congress

it is called HR-1 for it symbolism in THIS Congress

NPR Link so you dont question the source

the Bill was re-introduced on Jan 5, it is a very real thing 571 pages long

quote:

Voting and election laws

Voter registration would be made easier. Citizens could register online or get registered automatically, via data from driver's licenses or other government sources.

For federal elections, states would have to provide same-day registration and at least 15 days of early voting.

Election Day would be a federal holiday.

The bill would crack down on efforts to take voters off the rolls or prevent them from casting ballots.

Felons could regain their voting rights after finishing their sentences.

Federal elections would require paper ballots to prevent computer tampering.

State chief election officials couldn't get involved in federal campaigns.

The bill would declare an intent to revive core anti-discrimination provisions of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 that were effectively shut down by the Supreme Court six years ago.

It would also state that failing to vote isn't grounds for taking away a person's voter registration.

quote:

Campaign finance

Provisions from the Disclose Act would expand the prohibition on foreign political money and mandate the disclosure of the big donors behind politically active 501(c)(4) social welfare organizations.

Digital companies, like Facebook and Google, would have to set up public databases cataloging political ad purchase requests of $500 or more and create new measures to block ad buys by foreign nationals.

Presidential inaugural committees would have to disclose expenditures, in addition to the existing requirement for donor disclosure. This is a response to reports of unexplained spending by Trump's inaugural committee.

A new matching-fund program would support House candidates who agree to raise only small-dollar contributions. (Similar provisions for Senate candidates would have to come from the Senate.)

The public financing system for presidential candidates, largely irrelevant since 2012, would be updated.

The bill would quash "sidecar" superPACs that support individual candidates.

Ethics
Presidents and vice presidents would have to release their tax returns, something that happened routinely in past administrations but not in this one.

Presidents-elect would need ethics plans for their transition teams and would have to file financial disclosures within 30 days of taking office.

The bill would tell presidents and vice presidents they should act as if they are covered by the conflict-of-interest law, which actually exempts them. Again, this wasn't an issue in previous administrations because past presidents did not have the volume of business entanglements that Trump has.

House members would be barred from serving on corporate boards. Rep. Chris Collins, R-N.Y., is under indictment for allegedly using inside information he gained as a corporate board member.

House members would be forbidden to use taxpayer money to pay penalties for employment discrimination. Former Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, used $84,000 in federal funds to settle a sexual harassment claim by a former staffer, said he would repay it, but changed his mind after leaving office.

Congress passed a bipartisan measure in December requiring members to pay out of their own pocket for some settlements and court judgments in sexual misconduct cases.

The Supreme Court would have to get a code of ethics, something it has never had.

The laws regulating foreign and domestic lobbying would be expanded.

Reconciliation. It's a done deal.

I copy-pasted this from another Thread; as it is pertinent. Though I know a lot of ya'll don't want to go the 'Theocracy' model. The choice is binary; pick your poison.

The very essence of Constitutional Principle, is that Rights come from GOD. Trump would do well to exploit this, as the tens of millions of Immigrants (votes) that the Dems most surely will give Amnesty and full Citizenship, will determine electoral supremacy.

The ship has sailed. We are/have become a pseudo-Socialist State; as even Trump spent Trillions on the 'needy' (your's truly included). What remains to be determined is whether we hold National Sovereignty...or are sub-ordinated to the Secular, Global Socialist Entity. We can pick our poison.

IMO, if Trump starts a 'Patriot Party', he would do well to do what the Founders did...base it on God. Even further, Trump should straight up follow Biblical/Theological Principle and play the 'Jesus' Card. Those waves of Immigrants that the (closet Secular/anti-Jesus) Dems are counting on as the electoral base to implement their Secular Global Socialist Government, CAN be co-opted/stolen.

In fact, if he were to call for another DC Rally, with appeal to those who claim the mercy of Jesus Christ as their Base Principle...they can walk right in the Halls of Congress untouched, and unopposed, and demand a Government based on Jesus' Gospel of Mercy. Who in their right mind would dare to counters such a Movement.

And don't think that many of the Youth who now reject (dogmatic/traditional) Christianity, would reject the basic Principle (Mercy) therein. Most reject Christianity because of the hypocrisy they perceive in those who champion the Principle...but don't 'walk the walk' of "sell all that you have and give it to the poor".

When people face their imminent death...they go to the only thing that offers consolation. God...and the hope for another life; one based on the Mercy of a loving God.

Mud on the wall.

I had 4 votes in my immediate family for Perdue and the worthless Loeffler. The dems would have found the necessary amount of votes for the regardless of how many voted for the republicans.

We live in a post-constitutional empire with only the illusion of constitutionality. In short order, that illusion will be stripped away and we will have done it to ourselves.

What does that fricking matter? They're still Americans who have the right to vote. Who cares if they're idiots? They still have the right and it shouldn't be about jumping through hoops to vote.
