I have seen wide speculation the lawyers asked for minimal 5 to 10 year sentence for guilty plea. Who knows?

You would think a cracker killed a black person the way he’s talking. Odd behavior.

The jury has been deliberating Karmelo Anthony's sentence for more than an hour. He faces 5-99 years in prison. But defense attorneys are asking the jury to consider sudden passion. It's a factor that can lower the sentencing range from 2 to 20 years if they decide that the murder was provoked by the victim.

Ridiculous move by the state to agree. 5 year minimum was already on the table.

They are fly by night idgits... don't pay them any mind. They'll beat feet once they realize NOBODY cares and it ain't 2020 anymore.

As to the passion post- his defense has to do what it can.

It was very telling to me that the ONLY person to speak pre-sentencing was Karmelo's mother. That's it. No teachers, coaches, clergy, employer, friend... nobody.

Would a caucasian being videoed be ignored the same way if they were yelling “the only good toast is dead toast” or is this eligible for the double standard program?

Good point about no teachers coaches speaking for him.

What's the deal with the gag order on both families?

I am still wondering if I had a memory lapse or brain fart...on a jury sentencing and not the judge..

I find it different.

I am not aware of this, what do you mean? If so, it's probably to let the external energy die down a bit.

Might be a Texas thing... I imagine the judge has the final approval, but I'm not familiar with Texas... my degree is in Boston Legal (the show).

Anyone else feel sorry for Karmelo? I mean, the poor kid was just starting his life of crime. All those robbings, muggings, and other murders he won't be able to do now. Tsk, tsk.

In Texas, the jury does the sentencing in murder cases.
