As a general rule, this may be correct, but I suspect they would answer differently if we expand the hypo to say that only two officers are involved, one of them is already wounded, and they are pinned down with only their pea-shooters by a guy with an automatic weapon.

It should be noted there is a difference in going out of your way to join a fight and being caught in the middle of a gun fight.

I agree this should not be the norm, but I sure hope gun fights are not the norm. If a gun fight takes place and you are in a place of danger why not protect yourself and those around you?

I actually agree with you entirely. And frankly, this situation bridges the two, in my opinion. It says the police had the suspect boxed in, and the guy got out of his car and joined the fight. No information on whether he was the next car over or a dozen back in traffic. I would treat the two differently. I’ll admit that my mental image of what happened was influenced by the repeated language of him “joining” the gun fight.

You think anyone here cares about your anecdotal lies?

STFU
Funny how you only have a problem with anecdotal evidence from those you consider Leftists.

Actually, there are an alarming number of pussies, such as yourself, on this board... Well pussies and manginas but you get the point...
I often agree with Josh, but I support the citizen’s involvement in this case.

It is sad to see that this sort of personal attack is your default response to anyone who disagrees with you. It speaks volumes .....

Haha yeah? I don’t see how my position on this thread would be indicative of that, but weird is probably the least offensive thing I’ll be called on this board today, so I guess I’ll take it
So very accurate.

YOU think so, which is the point.

My position on this thread is in SUPPORT of the CHL holder, yet you have carefully downvoted all of my posts ... probably without reading them.

So, you went that far, but didn’t look how that’s actually been applied in Chicago??? Good grief. I’ll cut to the chase, they don’t have any strict laws anymore (relative to most everywhere else), haven’t for about a decade because they were all struck down by Heller. The only rules that still apply are minor limitations on where you can put retailers, the rest are gone.

You’re trying to double down on the fact that you didn’t know what you were talking about, your first link was a pretty big give away.

You are just a old dawg clone. Hall monitors basically.

Its not the norm so I'm not to worried. And its all about the situation at the time. A officer is shot and is down in the street as the perp closes in and a CC driver near by shoots stopping any further damage etc. is a good thing and like all CC shootings it takes good judgement.
Bad judgement would be a random CC guy gets in a line of armed swat guys about to storm a drug dealers house. Bad call

The former. I’m generally woefully ignorant of the kind of inter account drama the latter would be referencing

Ellis Wyatt is a (not vey bright) Texas fan who trolls TexAgs. The posting style (and lack of substance) was similar, though Ellis is not usually so profane.

How am I trying to double down? You responded to a comment that literally said "Gun Free Zone Signage." You referenced a ruling, and I posted said ruling which didnt prove/disprove the fact that gun free zone signage doesnt work. Criminals will do criminal things regardless of which laws are in place.... that's why they're criminals.

have a good one, baw.

If you want a semantics win that bad, you can have it. I don’t care, tell yourself whatever you want.

You should thank me, you learned something you clearly didn’t know from the safety of an anonymous message board. Now you won’t sound so uninformed next time you get in a 2A debate and Chicago comes up.

Question - can a citizen legally help cops and fire/kill someone without themselves being threatened?

Seems like a no brainer, but I don’t know if the law protects citizens there, which means you’re leaving up to the discrestion of a prosecutor

I don't know about other States laws but I know in Louisiana we do. We have a pretty strong 'in defense of others' in the RS with the same or similar requirements as 'justifiable homicide' in RS.
