ATL wasn't doing anything about the protestors preventing construction of a new polic facility so Kemp sent in the GBI. Previously, one protestor shot, 8 others arrested on domestic terrorism so the local DA couldn't just turn them back out.

And now, they've arrested three organizers on money laundering and charity fraud.

Construction on the new training facility has begun.

lots more details in the story.

Meanwhile the cost of the facility has more than doubled with the public picking up the overage:

Atlanta's proposed police and fire training center will cost taxpayers more than double the $31 million previously estimated by Mayor Andre Dickens' administration.

City officials on Friday confirmed that there is a provision in the city's lease with the Atlanta Police Foundation that will add about $36 million to the public cost of the $90 million complex, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

The provision, called a "lease back," requires the city to pay $1.2 million a year for use of the facility over 30 years. That is in addition to the $31 million city taxpayers are contributing toward construction.

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms' administration in 2021 said the city would pay either $30 million or agree to the lease back. However, the lease approved by Atlanta City Council holds the city responsible for both.

The Atlanta Community Press Collective first reported the additional cost on Wednesday.

The referenced ACPC article from 5/24:

quote:

As a proposed funding ordinance for the initial construction plans of the Atlanta Public Safety Training Center, better known as Cop City, works its way through Atlanta City Council, new information suggests the ordinance could come with a total price tag of $51 million in public funds, instead of the $30 million that city officials promised since 2021.

On May 15, hundreds of people came out to City Hall to speak out against the public funding of Cop City. Nearly 300 people signed up to speak against the proposal, with no public comment in favor of it. Due to the large response, an estimated 100 people were in line, but unable to sign up to speak before the sign-up period ended.

After more than seven hours of public comment against the funding package, District 9 City Council Member Dustin Hillis introduced the ordinance that, if approved, authorizes the allocation of a total of $31 million from the city of Atlanta to the Atlanta Police Foundation (APF) for the construction of Cop City. The ordinance is cosponsored by Council Members Byron Amos, Marci Collier Overstreet, Howard Shook, Matt Westmoreland and Mary Norwood.

The ordinance, 23-0-1257, also authorizes the mayor to enter into a lease back agreement with APF. This lease back agreement will allow the Atlanta Police Department and Atlanta Fire Rescue Department to use the facility for training purposes after the initial phase of construction is complete.

As written, the ordinance seems to fall in line with the $30 million public cost of the training center promised in 2021, with just one additional $1 million line item for the construction of a gymnasium. Due to a lack of limitations on the terms of the lease back agreement, however, the actual cost to the public of this ordinance may be over $51 million.

Charge them as domestic terrorists so that the DA can't simply punt on charges and then go after their money.

Was the DeKalb DA even going to punt on them in the first place?

I am surprised his WEF/CCP puppet masters allowed him to do that.

No idea, but it's better to be safe than sorry considering how many soft-on-crime DAs there are these days.

For the record, there are almost 80 DA's with funding from soros led organizations in the United States right now.

That we know about.

Amazing governor? Maybe. That's a debatable topic but for another thread.

Amazing move by the governor? Yeah, definitely. That's about as alpha as it gets, and exactly how the extreme BLM and anqueefers should be treated nationwide.

Kemp is good when he does his job. Too bad he's a commie sell out. He allowed the ground work to be set up for GA to be stolen for good once the next democrat governor takes office.

Him and Raffen bitch made that trip to the Houston Chinese consulate that was shut down weeks later for tech espionage and then bam! Ga got some fancy dominion machines.

Wouldn't doubt it at this point.

He threw about his only decent hire under the bus yesterday. Dude is unhinged.

Leftists only retreat with force. They only understand smash mouth. You might as well skip straight to kicking their arse because words won't work.

You mean investigate the alleged fraud by interviewing witnesses?

In 2020 the Governor of GA (current and former) had no legal authority to send in the GBI on voter fraud.

In 2021 a law was passed that gave the Governor (current and future) that authority.

First time I’ve heard that lie. He obstructed efforts to expose the fraud. When did you become such a progressive little bitch?
