Eight years ago my mom and sister hated Trump. Today they love him. So, maybe there is hope.

I feel your pain brother. My parents are also Democrats. I share close to the same birthday as Obama and im still slightly bitter because one year my mother who I love dearly wished the birthday boy a happy birthday. She chose to share with the world “Happy Birthday Barack Obama”. No mention of her son that year or any other year.

My mom (81, no pictures) gets her news from The View.
She didn't used to be political at all when I was growing up, but somewhere in her 70's went full women power + liberal and thinks she is just more "educated" than she used to be.
She spent 2016-2020 picking fights with the most absurd claims (think Trump pee pee tapes) but so far this time has just avoided all political topics. My dad used to be a Republican but all of a sudden sees no problem with parents transing their kids or men in women's sports.
I wonder if it isn't a slow brain deterioration that's causing it. Sort of a reverse Fetterman effect. I'm not even joking. I want someone to study this penomenon and I want my normal parents back.
