I know the knee-jerk is to think about W's military service records, but my first thought on Dan Rather's bias in reporting will always default to 1988's The Wall Within.

tl;dr - This documentary had Dan Rather interviewing six "Vietnam veterans" who told stories of slaughter, cruelty and the horrors of war.

Rather to one "veteran": “You’re telling me that you went into the village, killed people, burned part of the village, then made it appear that the other side had done this?”

The "veteran's" response: “Yeah. It was kill VC, and I was good at what I did.”

It turned out that five of the six were never in the service at all, and the sixth, who claimed to be a Navy SEAL, was an equipment repairman and never near combat.

Yes, it is extremely arrogant to believe you are entitled to that. You're not.
And it is extremely ignorant to believe you'll get that from an organization (the media) that is owned and controlled by habitual criminals.

So you're telling me that, hypothetically, if data from NASA showed that heat was passing through the roof of the greenhouse at a much higher rate than 100% of climate models predicted, that, even though the finding would be significant and highly relevant, it would not be reported if the administration wanted it supressed?

Screw Dan rather. He was the consummate insider and now he's attempting to portray himself as the truth revealing renegade. He'd be right back in the fold if they would only allow him in.

This is an example where the messenger is more disgusting than the disgusting message.

If memory serves me, Goldberg calling out Dan in his book caused a lot of hard feelings between the two.

you don't expect your doctor, your pharmacist, the teacher of your children, your dry cleaner, journalists, any merchant that you trust, to be honest and have integrity and you don't think that is a standard that should be applied in society?

If you don't apply those standards in society then,...ah nevermind
