Cause and effect. Same reason we see unequal pay.

How many of these accidents take place around 2:30AM as the clubs are getting out?

I get the impression that blacks not only commit more crimes than whites, but also are less smart about how to get away with crimes.

I grew up in a white, upper middle class area right next door to a huge drug dealer. He didn’t get away with drug dealing because he hid his activities. (Everybody in the neighborhood knew what he did.) He got away with drug dealing because at least half of his clientele were policemen.

I doubt that there are too many black criminals like him who actually think to befriend the police.

Anecdotal, but I seem to see a lot of black drivers with their cell phone 3 inches away from their face while driving

Next time you are on the road, look for a driver in a 2015 model of any of the following: Chrysler 200, Chevrolet Impala, Hyundai Sonata, Nissan Altima or Kia of any model.

Notice if the sides of the car look as if its sideswiped a gas pump barrier or rear-ended a car at low to moderate speeds (or has been rear-ended)

Notice if the car is passing at a high rate of speed on the right.

Notice if the windows are blacked out. If not, look for signs of seatbelt usage.

Notice if the windows are slightly cracked open and tell us what you smell.

You left off the most common cause for an accident. Some dumbass with their nose stuck in a phone.

This is true. I know every time I see a minority behind the wheel, I try to run the off the road. My insurance gives me better rates for minority damage…

Some of the worse mother fricking drivers I have ever witnessed are black. I just don't get it. It is ridiculous

I have, with various jobs over the past 28 years that required a lot of driving, driven probably 1.2 million miles or so accident free. Knock on wood but this did not happen by accident(no pun). I have my head on a swivel and am very analytical when it comes to other drivers.

Two groups who never seem to fail in reckless driving are those who have Fire Fighter tags and car dealer tags. The FF guys I guess feel like they will get a pass if they ever get pulled over so they will often speed. I question however, why do these folks in particular not be more cautious when they see the effects of speeding so often? That puzzles me. The car dealer tag crew, I suppose, sees their cars as dispensable and thus tend to be reckless.

Beyond that, in a generic sense I note two other groups whose driving tends to be more reckless and that stands out to me…and keep in mind this is based on a shite-ton of experience and observation on my part, calling balls and strikes here…youthful attractive white women and younger to middle aged blacks of both genders. These two groups both seem to be WAY more aggressive than others. My closest calls have been almost always involving one of these two groups as well.

So when I see stats like in the OP and others here making similar observations, I am not surprised one bit and again I feel that I am definitely one who is in a position to be assertive with my take on this too based off experience.

Maybe, after decades of being told they are not to be blamed for bad behavior and that society is against them or that they are owed, many blacks now feel they are owed

Get rid of the “maybe” and you could have just stopped right there. It’s the reason for a host of social pathologies. And I would take the word “many” and probably change it to “most”, but it’s not all.

African Americans seem to have a problem with impulse control and wreckless behavior (see high crime statistics for evidence). It makes sense that they would be making more poor decisions behind the wheel than other demographics as well.

This is just wrong...

They're not wreckless...

They have plenty of wrecks. It's spelled "reckless". Other than that - spot on!

From what I’ve been told, Chrysler factory employees are really bad about that.

They get the cars so cheaply they are pretty much disposable. Once it dies on them, they abandon it and get another cheap one.

This was a thing back when the Silverdome was still around and being used to warehouse Chryslers which were manufactured but not ready to go to dealers. They had about a year’s worth of inventory on hand at any one time.

Know why?

Because there IS one!

Generally speaking, I never understood their inability to use a blinker. The stem is literally 3 inches from the left side of the steering wheel. 3 mutha effing inches.

Do they still like to change 3 lanes at a time for no reason back and forth in Jackson? At least BR traffic is too bad for that to happen much.

You'd be surprised what they can, and do, accomplish in that small stretch between the split and downtown. I could write a book about what I've seen...and that's just 6:30 in the morning on the way to work.

My theory is connected to the demographic of 1 vs 2 parent homes.

Call me a sexist if you want, I don't care, but men drive better than women. But TT you say, women get in less wrecks than men. Men drive a LOT more than women, so the statistics are swayed. But men driving a lot more also means that they have much more experience at it.

So, kids that grow up with a father, who teaches them how to drive, rules and etiquette of the road, basic car maintenance, and general safety and navigation tips and tricks are better drivers.

Kids that grow up with just a mom teaching them how to drive are going to miss out on a lot of knowledge and general car driving skills that women just don't know about, or don't use.

Just one more reason for the importance of fathers not abandoning their kids.

If you can make them, you can raise them.
