And after doing more research, Dalton is no longer the big carpet capitol of the world.
So where is it?
Still in Georgia.

My argument is if you had to hire a bunch of illegals to stay affloat your business wasn't sound.
You sound like Hillary Clinton here. Remember she said she couldn’t be responsible for every under-capitalized business? Well, they weren’t under-capitalized until her health plans were contemplated (luckily they never passed).
These businesses were perfectly fine under the then-accepted modes of operation. When the government changes the de facto rules, by suddenly enforcing laws, it should be done gradually so that businesses like these can gradually adjust, and it is.
The people being deported are mostly criminals with just enough non-criminals being caught in the dragnet to create disincentives for those thinking of illegally immigrating.

Technically, I've been away longer than I was born/raised there, but I did make a mental note that it's always the non-Daltonians who don't call them mills
At least I didn’t call you a lint head.

ETA- there are Americans who work there too, day shift, but nobody wants to work nights and weekends, except the chicanos. It's a 24 hour operation, 365 days a year. So these mexi's aren't "taking" jobs from Americans in this factory, they are working the shifts that the American's don't want to work.
Well the wages paid for the unfavorable shifts should increase to what the market determines. Just because some illegal will do it for less doesnt make it right.
Deport every single illegal, reform welfare and those able bodied people who were on welfare will do those jobs.
Or they will starve, or get shot trying to break into my home to steal something.

Hispanics have limits on how much they are willing to assimilate (especially Mexicans) and it pisses me off. They have a racist idea that their culture and language is superior to all others. Mexico was so great you had to come to the U.S.
If they do it the proper way (legal way) they do assimilate, if they are the rich Mexican that moved to the States fleeing from something in Mexico then I agree with you!

If you deported them all, there wouldn't be a carpet and rug industry in Dalton

frick you and them. Deport them all. Hire Americans. There are plenty on welfare needing a job

My good buddy works in one of the carpet factories up there in a managerial position. On the floor, it's all hispanics with fake docs. If you deported them all, there wouldn't be a carpet and rug industry in Dalton.
Sounds like your good buddy is committing a crime and is the problem.

You realize there is a LEGAL migrant worker program. Your buddy is a piece of shite trying to skate paying taxes.

The whole industry would cease to exist without immigrant labor, there needs to be a path for legality besides just using fake docs to work there. I want them to have real docs, and be vetted, and in a data base, etc.
Sure. But they HAVE to get in the back of the line. Legitimate immigration is accepted my most on the right. It is rejected by the lefties. They don't want assimilation, because assimilation instills pride and a work ethic and as we all know, pride in your country is the opposite of what these lefties preach.

That said, I don’t like the idea of coming down too hard on a multi generational illegal immigrant that is obviously trying to better herself. There needs to a bridge because you can’t remedy 40 years of turning a blind eye to this problem in one term.
Disagree you absolutely come down hard on them. Her family and her are illegal. I don’t give a damn how long they were here. They never tried to do it right. They are driving without insurance, likely have stolen social security and illegals under cut American wages.
Companies have a path to make their illegals legal, they should do it or the execs and high level hr should face prison and massive fines.
It should always be America first

Yeah, the left is fully weaponizing the Hookers with Hearts of Gold emotional blackmail angle at every available turn with these deportation actions.

There needs to be a path to legal status for the folks who bust their arse in those factories all day to make MADE IN AMERICA carpets and rugs.
There already is a path. And I don’t give a frick about the rugs in Dalton. Your friend is a piece of shite for not reporting the illegals

Of course. Only far left wackos want open borders. Enforcing the immigration laws on the books is what an overwhelming majority voted for.

hire ACTUAL US Citizens at a decent wage.
I don’t buy the “But we’ll go out of business “ argument. F*ck the greedy scumbag owners squeezing extra profit at the expense of American jobs.
Wow, talk about a throwback to old school, 1970s era liberal Democrats. They didn't understand economics then and they still don't.
