I could be on both sides of this.
On one hand- private company can do what it wants, have whatever policy it wants. If the private company doesn't want to employ certain religions, so be it.

But they're not even going that far
They're just saying that you can't deny someone else a prescription based on your personal religious beliefs

If prescribing birth control goes against your faith, don't work in a job that expects you to prescribe birth control.
Also, if you'd like to change the constitution to align it with your belief that there is some sort of collective right rather than an individual right, then you are free to get that process started by reaching out to your representatives.

This isn’t even relevant to this situation.

In 2023 A.D. why would anyone need a prescription to buy birth control pills ?
I would rather a woman to have the Pill than to choose to have an abortion.

CVS reneging on their promise to their employee.

So this fine Christian woman must risk eternal damnation and provide tools to allow sluts to pop that thang till it rots?
How intolerant, uninclusive and bigotted you are.

Well, earlier in your copy/paste it clearly says:
quote:
for 6½ years, CVS granted her a religious accommodation to forgo having to prescribe the drugs at the CVS MinuteClinic where she worked. When customers needed the prescriptions, she would refer them to a colleague or another CVS MinuteClinic
So she was already employed there and granted an exemption, which they decided to revoke and it likely violated her constitutional rights given that there was precedent.
CVS probably screwed the pooch on this one. They could've nitpicked her attendance or records or found some pile of minor infractions that would mount up enough to result in her termination if they wanted her gone, but they chose instead to walk the woke line, and it'll likely cost them.
They hired her fully understanding her beliefs and granting her an exemption based upon said beliefs. Then, they changed the rules. Can they do that? Sure. But will there be consequences for doing it? Yep.

TBH things are so through the looking glass in this country I've lost interest in arguing these types of cases.
It seems kind of dumb for CVS to employ someone who can't dispense something I assume is a major slate of drugs for them. But I'm coming at that from a mere practicality position rather than some libertarian free-market/right to contract stance. On the other hand, I value people with resolute faith-based beliefs in a world where there are fewer and fewer of them.

The real crime here is that NPs are allowed to practice medicine without a medical degree

Someone explain to me how being shitty at your job is your religion.

It is against my religion to murder somebody. If my job included murdering people, I wouldn't do it.

don't sign up for murder then... 2+2=4

Being a pharmacist is signing up to murder people is pretty much the dumbest take I've read today.

The AMA and all its degreed doctors being a bastion of medical knowledge and credit to the dignity of medicine.

Don’t know what that has to do with practicing medicine. NPs are trained in nursing, they don’t know very much at all about medicine. Maybe we should have flight attendants flying planes too since they have experience in that industry too
