What is best for the. Cuban People should be a central consideration. It’s the innate inequality and prosperity of Capitalism vs the equal but relatively impoverished economy of Socialism that is in play. Let the people decide.
Albeit “mob rule “ via Democracy will never be compatible with Constitutional Principles. It’s either- or.

Us taking over is much better but it isn't a priority for us

Ha! So true.
Furthermore, fwiw ....

Cuba holds significant strategic value primarily due to its geographic location just 90 miles from the U.S. mainland, controlling critical sea lanes like the Windward Passage and the entrance to the Gulf of Mexico. Historically viewed as the most important single strategic feature of the Caribbean, the island serves as a potential SIGINT and missile vulnerability for the U.S. if controlled by adversaries, while offering a forward base for power projection throughout the Western Hemisphere.
Geopolitical and Military Significance. Control of Cuba allows a nation to flank the Panama Canal and dominate Caribbean communications, a principle established by strategist Alfred Thayer Mahan that remains relevant despite modern weaponry. The U.S. maintains the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base to preserve a foothold in this vital position, while recent concerns focus on preventing Chinese and Russian intelligence operations or military deployments on the island. Some analyses suggest that "territorializing" or closely cooperating with Cuba would enhance drug interdiction, manage illegal migration, and facilitate operations in Venezuela and Haiti.
Economic and Resource Assets. Beyond geography, Cuba possesses the world's third-largest reserves of cobalt and substantial nickel deposits, which are essential for electric vehicles and semiconductors. The island also represents a potential hub for BRICS nations to challenge U.S. economic dominance through de-dollarization efforts. Additionally, Cuba's human capital in healthcare and biotechnology, along with its large diaspora, are considered foundational assets for economic transformation if structural reforms occur.

I kinda do care about a communist regime right off our coast.

Imagine giving a frick about Cuba
You mean the enemy country right next to us that would willingly allow other enemy countries to launch attacks from?
K. Well... I'd rather give a frick. Personally.

How about the one in New York City?

I definitely care about that one too.

I care about Cuba because the poor Cuban people have suffered an awful lot. The “Cuba is a threat to America’s security” argument is ridiculous.

I want the Cuba problem solved once and for all.
It could definitely become the new redneck Riviera with a little touch up paint.

An actual line from an SNL skit was attributed to Sarah Palin. People have been stupid for awhile.

Cuba thinking.....if we fight the Yankee, we might get a better deal for ourselves in the long run, the Iranians seem to have done well
Cuba isn't capable of putting up a fight. Besides, we won't destroy anything, it would hamper all the billionaires investing in the new casinos that will be lined up on those beautiful beaches!

deltaland...
We push Cubans around and the power stays on for them.
Communists get helicopter rides and Marines in GITMO get to stretch their legs.
Cubans get car dealerships and the beaches open for tourists.
Where is the downside?

I didn't realize Monaco and Liechtenstein were communist regimes in the western hemisphere (90 miles from our shores) aligned with our enemies. Guess you learn something every day.
