No, it's not and there is a treaty in place when Ukraine was denuclearized in the 90's.

ETA: Time to consider building a defense shield once Ukraine joins the EU. Russia wants to crank it up then let's make them uncomfortable.

This works out to $.06 per resident...assuming that 50% of residents do not pay any taxes that would mean a refund of $.12 annually. I think most of the rest of the US would gladly pay every tax payer in Texas 12 cents a year to no longer call themselves Americans...hell I would gladly foot the bill for 10,000 Texans every year my self. Of course the number of illegal residents swimming the Sabine and Red Rivers to escape the hell hole that is Texas

The us would have to take back the "leach" us citizens. Why act like they wouldn't go back to the us (and shift the balance sheets too)

Texas could in one fell swoop eliminate unemployment in the state by giving the U. S. back their lazy, shiftless, good for nothing suckers and then make all the Mexicans here legal to take their place. At least from my experience, those families "work" to take care of their families.

I work in Downtown Houston. I get panhandled/begged regularly. I've never had a Mexican beg me for money. They take pride in their work and pride in taking care of themselves and their families.

Texas sends about $1.6 million more to Washington than it gets from Washington (the only red state which sends more than it receives). Jesus, you are such an incredibly ignorant jackass. First, comparing Crimea to SW US is nonsensical. There is no popular movement to merge SW US with Mexico. While the majority of Hispanics in the SW are of Mexican descent, there are large contingents of Hispanics that not of Mexican ethnicity. Only about 33-40% of the SW is Hispanic compared to about 2/3 of the Crimean Region being ethnic Russian. Finally, Crimea was under Russian control a generation ago as opposed to the SW US where the majority was never under Mexican control and the parts that were were generations ago.

And I'm sure the US would benefit from segregating the largest oil refining region of the country.

Apparently the people of Crimea actually want to be reunited with Russia?

There is a pretty large contingent of Spanish speaking Hispanics in the South Western US who would probably like to see that part of the world returned to Mexico. Would this justify a military invasion of the region by Mexico? Not that it would turn out well but imagine a United States without Texas and, more importantly, Texans...now that is a dream I can get on board with....

Mexico can certainly try, but it won't end well for them.

Russia, USA, and China are three super powers who are going to do what they want. This is nothing to get worked up over.

Its a very popular sentiment. Like I said two days ago, its difficult for Americans to understand because we're a nation that was created within political boundaries whereas modern Europe are nations whose boundaries were created to encircle them.

Crimea is primarily ethnic Russian and was under Russian control until 1989.

I still think all of this revolves around Sevastopol. If I were a betting man, the Crimeans are extremely concerned with this new leadership infringing on their Russian culture and the Russians are concerned that the new leadership is going to kick them out of Sevastopol.

Imagine that. Wonder what the vote would have been before Russian moved in its troops, tanks, and ships?

So as it turns out this all may be a pretty minor deal?

I figured Russia was just trying to keep Ukraine out of the EU.

Then why in the hell are they here to start with? The Rio Grande has banks on both sides of it. People can swim back into Mexico just as easily as they can swim into the U.S. if they're not happy here.

Of course the key word in your post is "probably". That being the case, then you're just bloviating to make your case?

Not true, so long as trade is free and unrestricted.
