I think both the Boomers and the Millennials need to stop being obsessed with what age group each fall into and concentrate on the real problems our society is facing right now.

Just a thought

Boomers are the ones installing it because they are selfish, corrupt, self serving assholes. They have sold themselves and their country. It’s quite disgusting.

It can happen

Hitler took advantage of a depressed economy to install his form of nazi socialism

When a country becomes economically depressed they’ll listen to snake oil sales pitches all day.

We’re a long way from that.

It won’t stop the democrats from trying as they try to convince everyone that capitalism is evil and does not work. The pass all sorts of laws to inhibit capitalism and raise taxes to deter capital from entering the system.

Their end game is government control. Government ownership of the minerals in the ground. Government providing the wages.

The left is using desensitization as well. Just look at TV ads now - homosexual couples, mixed race couples are common. Yesterday I saw a happy domestic scene involving a lesbian couple (1 white, 1 black) with a baby. The idea is to make their agenda so prevalent that it becomes the new normal. Ads that address "climate crisis" also come to mind.

Both Generations need to go to their rooms and write down 100 nice things about the other with no dinner until you both finish

Look at the climate, for instance. The Southeast US, for instance, has become increasingly targeted for severe weather events, as the years go by. This is a region which should embrace "socialist" policies such as the Green New Deal, not contemptuously dismiss them.

Just how many years have you kept track of to come to this conclusion? 20? 50? 100? What if the climate in the Southeast US was worse in the year 674 AD? How would anyone know?

The Green New Deal is just another ploy by the left to change the relationship between citizen and government from the one the founders set up.

I think that it’s a combination of Boomers and Millennials. Boomers are the hippies- the ones who rebelled against the “greatest generation” with drugs and communes. They hated uptight, conservative America. Well, they’ve grown up, and have transitioned from hating the “man”, to being the “man.” But, instead of being the traditional conservative “man”, they want a hippy-like socialist state.

Millennials, on the other hand, have been indoctrinated by the Liberal Boomers in academia, plus the technological revolution- ie facebook, Twitter, etc… The ones who want socialism want it because they got degrees in worthless fields, and/or don’t want to work because they want to be online all the time. I mean, that next prestige in COD is not going to make itself. Plus, they might miss a TikTok.

It’s up to us Gen Xers and Gen Zs to right the ship.

The fact that we are talking about it means it won't happen. The progressive democrats have met far more pushback than they expected. As we inch closer to mid-terms the pushback will only intensify. This "give them enough rope to hand themselves" approach by the right seems to be working if you consider opinion polls worth anything. Just because conservatives aren't in the street burning things down in disgust doesn't mean they have given in or given up. It just means they have jobs and have to go to work.

It’s funny that you think we don’t already have a socialist system.

Just a heads up we’re actually right at the point of no return. Debt to GDP is at the 150% mark, and our insolvent pension system is about to experience net outflows due to demographic changes while we are decoupling from the rest of the world. I’m not saying it can’t be delayed or reversed just an observation.

There are different types of socialism. Some people consider all government aid programs socialistic. I was talking more about countries that officially defines itself and government as socialist.

Most people think the pull to the left started about ten years ago.

It has been going on for at least the sixties and probably the thirties.
