How do you explain basically a complete lack of mass shootings in schools in European countries which do not have prayer?

hat it's highly unlikely that we'll ever narrow it down to one potential causal factor

The factor is “crazy eyes”. All these school shooters had them. We as a society have to teach kids that they have to suck it up and be nice to the crazy eyed kids. Bully the fat kids if you need an outlet. Also, people selling guns just need to turn the crazy eyes away. No need for laws, just an understood rule that we don’t sell to them.

Stop trying to force religion on others.

The thing is, "Thou shalt not murder." is a religious tenet.

Specifically, it is a Judeo-Christian tenet.

Islam gives a broad exceptiom permitting the murder of all non-Muslims who won't convert.

Hinduism has an absurdly narrow interpretation banning killing anything (and the subsequent vegetarianism that results)...though curiously single cell organisms are exempt as I know of no proscription in Hinduism against taking antibiotics.

Lots of atheists have thrown out 'thou shalt not murder' along with the God who commanded it and millions have died as a result.

Paul VI said this would would happen when the birth control pill first became mainstream. We would first begin to see a decline in morality which would ultimately proceed to a lack of respect for all life. He has been proven right.

Religion is for the weak.

We can be great people without it. If you need it to steer your morally you are indeed a weak soul

Focusing on the here and now isn’t all there is. If you have kids, you’re trying to do something in the here and now to make their future better. Doing those things well makes a lot of people happy. It isn’t always about instant gratification this way. Besides, planning for the future and making other’s lives better is a good way to enjoy our existence, higher power or not.

You're both right and you're both wrong. The here-and-now should never be about instant gratification. It's the gratification is more of an Impulse that never satisfies just like reaching for the heavens and thinking about the future never satisfies.

When you can peacefully meditate in any given moment and slow down that moment allow yourself to reach out and feel in the moment, you become happier and more focused. Over time your awareness starts to increase.

Zen Buddhism has it down completely. If there's a way to live on Earth where you want to feel both the sense of purpose and a sense of impermanence and acceptance about that impermanence then that is your direction.

Without religion, there is no morality, only opinion.

the christian god is an absolute psychopath. even the book he supposedly wrote, his version of events, makes it clear that hes a needy, petty, rash, vindictive, and pointlessly violent lunatic.

if it turns out im wrong and he's real, he can still frick off. im not gonna grovel to such a stupid and evil god. why would i want too?
