Warning: Religion Post
I (a Christian) had a thought. The thought I had, was if there was an increase of school shootings that correlated with the time of prayer being taken out of schools. What I found was unfortunately not surprising. Here are a few articles that can shed some light on that.
The year that prayer was removed from school was 1962, and the chart that starts talking about the increase in mass shootings starts in 1982. I do not this is coincidence.
What I mean by the timing, is that 20 years is about a generation. My hypothesis was/is that the more generations removed without prayer in school, the more shootings, suicides, overdoses and etc.

But yea, blame it on the inanimate objects.

As one who goes to church every Sunday. I don’t think it is Prayer in schools that is the problem. It is a lack of prayer in the homes that is the real issue. I for one do not want my child’s teachers teaching him to pray.

Ted Bundy and John Wayne Gacy had prayers when they were in school. Prayers in school didn’t help shite, and you’re a nutcase if you think this was what was holding them back.

I don't think teachers ever taught students how to pray. I think it was more of a way for it to be allowed/welcomed in the schools.

I do agree that faith starts in the home, as well as pretty much everything else in child upbringing.

Obviously there are exceptions to every rule, but you named two people. How many mass murderers have we had in the last 30 years again?

But yea, blame it on the lack of mythology in the classrooms.

I haven't heard of mythology that had numerous instances of historical evidence, but nice try.

Even with the increase in mass shootings, the individuals and the factors surrounding each shooting, are so unique from each other--let alone the broader population--that it's highly unlikely that we'll ever narrow it down to one potential causal factor and none of the recent attempts (guns, culture, etc) have contradicted its improbability.

lol...okay...start citing your evidence. Don't tell me what you believe. Actually show me the evidence.

I'll wait patiently...and no, the bible is not a historical document.

You really want to debate the number of murders in the 60s and 70s to now?

This x10000

You can’t legislate morality. Kids whose parents teach them to pray will indeed pray at school no matter what they can and can’t do. If they are properly instructed at home, it won’t matter if the teacher leads them or not.

Destruction of family unit is the real problem. About 99% of this country’s problems would be solved if parents stayed committed to each other and raised their kids to honor and respect God and others.

Unfortunately each passing generation seems to feel entitled to more and more while wanting to simultaneously be responsible for less and less. That includes raising children.

nobody is asserting that all prayer is good or helpful. Muslims pray, but they aren't praying to Jesus or through Jesus and therefore it's useless.

Well from the late 70’s through the late 90’s were a far more violent society than we were before and after that time span. And the majority of the 70’s had higher homicide rates than we have now.

The Flood

Biblical Archaeology

King David's Proof of Existence

Want me to keep going? And these are archaeological finds that justify stories of the Bible, not the other way around.

There are over a hundred American serial killers in the past century alone, and around 90% of them started murdering before 1990. I don’t hear shite about serial killers these days that we had like Dahmer and Albert Fish. The mass shooters are a different breed and do it for the noterity rather than the thrill of killing and getting away with it. These frickers know they will be caught immediately and more likely killed.

The serial killer breed is pretty much dead, but was prolific and much more common than you are saying. It renders your argument totally retarded, since I find someone like Ted Bundy to be far more monstrous than any school shooter I can think of (Sandy Hook being its only real competition), and yet he could pray in his school:

Any religious threads always draw porn hounds to mock, so don’t expect serious discussion. There might be another correlation though, these stupid fricking gun free zone signs signal to evil people where easy targets might be, there could be many items that correlate, my choice is those stupid liberal signs that lawful people try to obey.

The murder rate is half of what it was in 1980. The total crime index is the lowest it has been since 1967. Things only seem more violent because of social media, but there has been some massive downward pressure on crime and violence from its heyday.

"The further one is from God, the less common sense one has."
"Just going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car."
"Education is simply the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another."

G.K. Chesterton

As God has been removed from our schools, He has gradually been removed from our society too. Now we get shootings, stabbings, gang fights, rape, etc where kids are supposed to be educated.
