Since 50-75% of cases show no symptoms, this is not true

and since the tests aren't 100% reliable you have to do them over and over again just to be sure.

helps to jack up the numbers with false positives too

never have heard the false positive rate but by all means ignore it so not only everybody who gets one is fricked for awhile but also everyone they are known to have come into contact with

Or it’s already peaked and we didn’t even know it.

My back-of-the-napkin guess is that we're about 2-3 days from peak. I'm using South Korea as a comparable...

But keep the panic going pleas

this isn't a post about panic

since we can't easily determine who has the virus without testing, removing asymptomatic people from the sample (when they are very likely the majority of cases) makes testing, as as scientific endeavor at this point, somewhat pointless

the only thing testing can do is help hospitals isolate critical cases (due to the contagiousness of the virus, to help spread)

If heat kills it why is New Orleans a hot spot for it with temps around 80 degrees
first, that question is complex but in general, viruses can live on surfaces. If the temp is low enough, such as when this thing started circulating, a high traffic tourist area is going to be more susceptible. But that doesn't mean the virus is more fatal. Also, what do you mean by hotspot?

Today was the 2nd highest growth rate since the US started tracking these things
and the deaths went down and the recoveries spiked up. The overall trend for the last 7-8 days has been positive, not negative.

the current actual statistics suggest otherwise. Now, things certainly could reverse course.

looking at the actual statistics is not a miracle. The outbreak hasn't even moved the needle so far nationally

Thanks for taking the time to respond to him. I thought about it, but decided his post was so nonsensical that it wasn’t worth the time.

Heat and humidity should happen in early April. This should cause a significant reduction in the spreading of the virus and flu, just like every year.

The transmission is microscopic. Humidity and pollen can act as barriers which could cause these microscopic virus to get blocked (like an invisible barrier) and the heat cases them to go to the ground. This becomes a natural barrier to the transmission of the disease.

Still need to wash hands and find a vaccine (to be prepared for next season).

As we go from winter to summer, the Southern Hemisphere will go from summer to winter, and this could ramp up on that part of the planet in a few months.

Closing travel from highly infected countries will save many lives.

We shall see.

We had the virus BEFORE Italy yet they have 25X the deaths and 1/5 of the population and a much higher hospalization rate.

Their cases are also slowing down.Who's to say we won't peak soon?
