Mike Adams, the former University of North Carolina Wilmington professor who sparked outrage in May over comments he made on Twitter, was found dead in his home Thursday, according to police.
Adams, 55, was found in his home alone during a welfare check, J.J. Brewer, a New Hanover County Sheriff's Office spokesperson, told USA TODAY. Brewer said police are conducting an investigation into his death.

He drew backlash in May after tweeting that people who wear masks in public look like "fools," and for calling North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper a "fascist," among other criticisms, for his response to the coronavirus pandemic. He also tweeted that women's studies is a "nonessential major" and pushed for the separation of states from the country.
After the controversy, Adams announced he'd be retiring early and recently reached a $504,702 settlement with the university for lost salary and lost retirement benefits.

Nothing suspicious about this at all.

Just another example of being bullied as a conservative in academia.

He was a brilliant pro life speaker and spoke out about closing NC and many other progressive ideas.
Yet they call him controversial. If he was progressive he would not have lost his job or his life.
He was leaving UNCW with at least $500K I don't think he was suicidal. Did someone kill him?

1.2 million. He had just won 700k from the University in court.
The 500k was separate agreement for early “retirement”.
I sure hope they catch whoever did it.

At this point there is no doubt in my mind he was murdered. If it was something else we would know

I know 2 professors that work @UNCW, they used to be my neighbors in 2006. They both are posting Obama GOTV and democrat posts on their twitter accts. As well as controversial posts.
A friend was going to get a family member a job @UNCW (it is a huge campus BTW) We were warned if you had any social media that was not progressive-- you won't get the job.

Now that seems to offer a chance for some undercover work to expose and prove illegal hiring bias.

Powerful piece.
Reading the Twitter comments in the eulogy his friend penned is enough to turn your stomach.
Humans are not nice.
I cringe daily when I read this board.
“If you don’t hold my views on COVID, masks, BLM, climate change, etc., you’re a cuck.”
People have no idea how to peacefully disagree.
God bless Professor Adams.
He’s in a better place than we are.

Leaving that completely aside, having one side disagreeing nicely and the other side setting shite on fire when they don’t get their way doesn’t end well.
Dialogue = two or more people talking.
Monologue = “I’m going to talk and you are going to listen you hateful racist bastards!”

Dr. Adams is a good dude. He's a Mississippi State grad that was a devout atheist until he was told to read the Bible by a prisoner he was interviewing for a book.
You (and the media) label him as controversial, but he wasn't controversial - he was conservative in a field (sociology) that is 99.9% ultra liberal.

As the guy with the AK in Austin did, “frick around and find out.”

Thank you for posting that. I was curious about what I would find due to all the media headlines about the death of a controversial professor known for vile, misogynistic. and racist tweets.
I wasn’t surprised at all to find absolutely no indications of any such things. It was only a handful of intentionally cheeky commentary using known triggers for the ultra sensitive SJW crowd.
