Libertarian foreign policy is a joke. 109 years ago a person could plausibly believe we could leave the world to its own devices, and remain safe and secure as Americans, but not only is it not true in 2018, it is idiotic to think so.
well let's not ignore how much our foreign policy and military intervention directly caused the areas of conflict. you don't get to claim the world is too dangerous for libertarian policy and then ignore the cause of most of that danger (the very policies you're promoting)

A constitutionally mandated requirement of the federal government. Why? I thought libertarians were all about the Constitution?
our Founders, the ones who wrote the Constitution, had a really harsh immigration policy

There’s no underlying moral truth to any particular view, just this is what I prefer versus others. For instance why ought we favor private property ownership?
this is kind of like religion and the development of moral values. societal trial and error, especially over the last 500 years or so, has shown us systems that work REALLY well. private property doesn't have to be "moral" if it creates better societal outcomes (just like how morality is really the function of societal trial and error and religion was just used as the proliferation method of the conclusions for thousands of years)

Conservatives disagree with libertarians on immigration because they’re not conservative enough to push for ending the income tax and entitlement programs.
yes this goes back to the earlier point of "what have they really won?"
the GOP/conservative movement has been so consistently losing for decades upon decades that they're so far to the left that they fight tooth and nail for these programs. the policies of the modern GOP is almost an extreme-DEM position of the post-WWII era. so, again, what have they won, really? their team may win, but that team doesn't come close to reflecting their values

yeah this is a thing, too
i do love your war on the liberals in disguise. always cracks me up to see you ask them basic questions and watch them leave threads

Libertarians are not realists. You have to have some form of government. You need government control over police, military, infrastructure (roads), etc. You think Cops are dirty now, just imagine a Police force for profit. (lol)
Also, most libertarians believe in 100% unrestricted immigration. They are completely aligned with the far-left in that regard.

I consider myself conservative and
Nope... The Govt. Shouldn't be in the marriage business at all. That is a church-religous ceremony.
I dont think the Govt. Shohld regulate any of the above either.

100% unrestricted immigration with no welfare programs and stronger private property laws

"restricted" immigration that lets tens of /hundredsthousands of illegal aliens into the country every year, granting their progeny citizenship, and robust welfare programs they are allowed to partake in

so yeah, criticize libertarians for a single plank of their overall ideology while claiming they ignore reality and actually ignoring reality

Libertarians have the only moral compass of any of the parties. The platform has been consistent and not varied since I joined in '92.
I like how "small gov't conservatives" get behind things like tariffs, infrastructure spends, and increased military budgets.

I had lunch with my extended family last week. This was the conversation:
Me: 'Grandson, now that you're 11 years old don't you think it's time to look for a job and a place to stay. You don't want to be dependent on your parents forever, do ya?'
His eyes got big.
His dad: 'Grandpa has a good point there, son.'
His jaw dropped.

Why is it the Libertarian party puts forward such seemingly bad candidates for President?
Is it moneyed interest from the DNC/RNC to keep a third party alive but not viable?
Tinfoil hat off

I think this is what I find most galling about the derisive “ignoring reality” aspersions cast at libertarians. Military adventurism hasn’t worked at regime change or region stabilization? Keep pouring money into it; it will work this time! Narcotics prohibition fails just like alcohol prohibition before it? Keep pouring money into it; it will start working any moment! Social security Ponzi scheme hurtling towards a cliff? WHY DO YOU WANT GRANDMA TO DIE?!?

The thought has previously occurred to me. However, I’m still inclined to operate under Hanlon’s Razor

It really the epitome of the modern left: dishonesty
