So what you're saying is that she is the ideal candidate to be bribed by unscrupulous lobbyists who will help her with her financial problems in exchange for...?

I am sure first year congresspersons from LA, AL, MS, KY, ND, SD, NM, etc who are also rookie politicians have never had an issue with high rents in DC.

A significant number of congressman live in their offices due to the high rent in D.C. and maintaining a household in their home district.

"While there is no official tally of the number of House hobos who turn their offices into makeshift bedrooms, interviews with members and several Post stakeouts of the congressional gym — where the live-in lawmakers shower — put the estimate at around 100 representatives, or more than one-fifth of the governing body. Publicly, about 50 members have ‘fessed up to it."

I would rather have successful people represent me - not losers who can't afford a rent deposit.
Or who are not smart enough or resourceful enough to:

a) keep this info private
b) get a loan

*My guess is she has some shite credit.

She will collect no salary for the next 3 months. I’m no fan of hers but it’s understandable that she can’t affors an apartment in DC until her salary kicks in.
So why does she even need to move 3 MONTHS BEFORE her job there begins? Could most any average American afford to move to a new city to live for 3 months before their new job starts? What makes her so special?

ETA: This housing expense is really gonna cut into her coronation extravaganza.

Do most Americans have 21k to move to DC? Nope.

Most Americans are month to month.

I am guessing the posh apartment she wants is prob 5-6k per month. Maybe more.

She is just not smart enough to figure out to ask for this in private or go to her bank. I am pretty certain if you were just elected to congress you can get a loan on your incoming salary.

Of all the things to shite on her for, and they are legion, we get another thread making an issue out of someone not being able to afford concurrent rent for two apartments in two of the most expensive cities in the country?

The last silly issue this board fixated on...

From what I remember, she doesn’t own that outfit. She was simply given it to wear for that photo shoot.

Do most Americans get elected to Congress?

Should any of our representatives be "average", or should we send our best?

She may not have the credit, but she's smart enough to do it. However she's an unabashed communist, and is using this to Garner support for her positions.

and this is how this public servant starts out her career by telling us we owe her living expenses before she is even in office

Tthis question has been addressed ON THIS BOARD a dozen times. Designers donate the USE of their clothing for photo shoot’s in order to receive credit in the photo shoot documentation. They get it back. This is standard practice. This has been repeated so many times that one must assume its continued repitition to be intentional.

If we want to open the door for non-wealthy, unconnected citizens to serve in Congress - and I know I do - this will be an obstacle for many.

Stop making excuses for someone elected to legislate for the entire country. If she doesn’t have the means to work and save for this (knowing it would be an issue if she won) then Her judgement seems suspect.

Also plenty of Congress people sleep in their offices or in a crash pad. Not every limp dick rep needs a townhouse in Georgetown.

Yeah I know of many representatives who sleep in their offices. She has a gripe but it’s certainly not a discriminatory issue.

I can't stand her and I LOATHE her politics, but, once again, the loudest sky-screaming, right-wing voices on this board almost always know the least about what they are screaming.

Five of the six Louisiana Congressmen (Higgins, Johnson, Richmond, Graves and Abraham) are, by your definition, losers. And four are Republicans.

The Louisiana Losers
