These types are taking over the country Tony. In 20 years you won’t recognize this country that we formerly called the United States of America

Defending the defenseless is part of your job as a law enforcement officer. I say that as a retired sheriff's deputy. PROTECT and serve for most LEOs is not just a slogan.

I think it is, and should be different, for kids we have left defenseless by law, versus a general public, who have not only the option, but the responsibility to provide for their own defense and safety. I don't think LE should have to suicide themselves for people who choose not to defend themselves.

Who said anything about "suiciding themselves"? If you are a school resource officer, you should have a working knowledge of entrances/exits and have a really good idea how to access sections of the school in the event(God forbid) of an active shooter scenario.

Both of the sheriff's offices I worked for practiced with the SRO on multiple occasions on how to react and minimize danger to the deputies/officers on scene. Doing nothing until the gunshots stopped was not one of them.

Eric Holder was easily as culpable as Scot Peterson.

But I bet few, if any, of the lib posters on here know why. The program he and Obama are responsible for, is why the perp wasn't in jail instead of out free to murder. And some say there is no media bias. A crucial story, all but buried by the MSM.

Looks like there are several who need to re-read my post. Maybe I just didn’t make myself clear. I think it is one thing for an SRO or LE to put their lives on the line for kids whom we have made essentially defenseless targets. It’s entirely another to do so for the general public, who have the option and responsibility to provide for their own safety and defense.

I fully expect LE to do whatever is necessary to defend kids, not necessarily so for adults in the general public.

You can't make that distinction and live up to your oath.

Not a cop, don’t even play one on tv. My opinion only. I do think most would agree with me, if they’re honest. Maybe for different reasons.

So nursing homes/retirement homes would be unprotected due to age/maturity levels. Churches would be handled according to ages of people present? You can't pick and choose when or where to protect.

The Supreme Court has ruled that officers have no requirement to protect. I don’t see how most of these charges hold up in court. Possibly the perjury charge which is a misdemeanor.

This guy is a disgrace to anybody who has ever worn a badge but, I don’t see how this case stands.

While I agree that police officers deserve to be paid more, the deputy knew the risks when he took the job. He took an oath (and a paycheck) that he would serve and protect the community. As a first responder you are made clear of the risks and what is expected of you during these risks. If he didn’t have the nerve to risk his life to save kids he should have turned his badge in years ago.

Obama/ Holder program to reduce the “bad” statistics so that more federal money could be obtained, is imho, criminal.

Well, that’s kind of dumb, isn’t it? Seems you’re trying pretty hard not to understand.

How often does LE provide security/defense for churches? Again, you seem to be trying to misunderstand, or just be difficult.

Well of course you can. You have to. Cops can’t be everywhere at all times. But then there are those places that should or must be defended, like schools.

Whether you want to acknowledge the distinction or not, there is one. The LE response to a man with a gun call isn’t the same for a grocery store and a school, and the actions of the officers responding would be different as well.
