Confederate Statue Removal

Virginian here. The liberal Taliban just removed the 2nd to last Confederate General (Lee) off of Monument Avenue in Richmond the other day. I visited message boards from DC up and the general consensus was that "Southerners" are basically morons and ignorant, treasonous, misguided idiots for honoring Confederate generals. My take is where does it end? Opinions?

I’m a conservative Trump guy but I get it. It’s not erasing history it’s not honoring the wrong side. I understand the arguments that the war wasn’t about slavery, but that narrative is not a hill I would die on. I know it’s a slippery slope, but I am past it. I am 64 year old white guy.

It will never end because conservatives and republicans won’t ever stand up. We’ll continue to give an inch here, a foot there, one day it’s a street name, next day it’s a flag, then a statue, until then it’s 2021 and your kids are shown videos how to suck dick and we’re all wondering how the hell this happened. Stand the frick up and voice your opinion no matter what! We have to put our life on the line like our kids’ lives depend on it because they do.

I don’t care about the vast majority of statues.
That being said, the two that K believe have merit that hav been removed were Lee and PGT B.
Their work to heal a divided nation should be remembered.
That being said, they should have been commemorated in civilian clothing, not military attire.
I feel much the same way about MLKj.
He had a checkered past (to put it mildly), yet, he should still be remembered for the good that he did.
Just my .02.

Going back to Virginia is hard. Especially now. I was in Charlottesville and it seemed like I was the only person in the entire city, who wasn't wearing a mask. The Virginians are long since gone. Went to visit my wife's family in Richmond last Thanksgiving. There were a bunch of dirty hippie progs sitting around the spray painted Lee statue beating on bongo drums on Thanksgiving day. 20 people at an abortion clinic "protecting" the women going in therefrom one old man who was protesting abortions outside.

Most Americans have nice homes, cars, barns, boats, vacation houses, properties, and other stuff that they will not do anything to lose it. Just the way it is. Oh, they also have their football teams that they must go and root for every weekend. They don’t care about heritage, honor, or any of that other American stuff.
