For a board that you'd expect to be pro-America, it puts down America any chance they can get.

Must be nice to be someone that has loved ones that don't have, old and new, negatives you wish they would change, and don't have to biatch about to others.

Maybe? Maybe not. But there are actual definitions and data points that determine what qualifies a country as “third world.” The lawlessness of the common citizens is not part of that determination.

There are plenty of areas of the U.S. that display a lot those characteristics.

From Wikipedia:
“Developing countries tend to have some characteristics in common often due to their histories or geographies. For example, they commonly have: lower levels of access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, energy poverty, higher levels of pollution (e.g. air pollution, littering, water pollution, open defecation), higher proportions of people with tropical and infectious diseases (neglected tropical diseases), more road traffic accidents, and generally poorer quality infrastructure.”

“In addition, there are also often high unemployment rates, widespread poverty, widespread hunger, extreme poverty, child labour, malnutrition, homelessness, substance abuse, prostitution, overpopulation, civil disorder, human capital flight, a large informal economy, high crime rates (extortion, robbery, burglary, murder, homicide, arms trafficking, sex trafficking, drug trafficking, kidnapping, rape), low education levels, economic inequality, school desertion, inadequate access to family planning services, teenage pregnancy, many informal settlements and slums, corruption at all government levels, and political instability.”

You said the whole country was third world. Not some areas having some characteristics. Huge difference. You and I might not like the current position of the country, or the direction she’s going, but by every metric, we are light years from third world. We are in the top third of every meaningful metric.

Of course America has negatives.

Every country does.

But I hear far, far more complaints about America than praises for it on this board.

Went to the Mall of Asia in 2010. Every bit as good as advertised.

Everything outside, immediately across the street and beyond is a third world shite hole.

Ok, hyperbole on my part, so I edited it to “becoming.” In my lifetime, in my early 40s, I’ve seen a drastic change in the standard of living in a lot places, places that affect me, even though I may live in those communities.

It’s because this board actually notes what being ruled by Democrats looks like.

You’re just used to the Reddit and DU echo chambers.

Should take empty or run down malls and turn them into senior citizen living. Could make several stores into divided up living areas. Smaller stores become doctors offices. Great way for seniors to walk around yet covered and in climate control. Could bring in entertainment. Movies you already have theaters. Vendors could set up kiosks by approval. I really think this is the best use of outdated malls.

Not exactly, they're just as critical/complain-y of America as this board is but because of Republicans.

I've been abroad, I've lived in multiple countries and America really is pretty great in comparison.

Not sure this is the best comparison in the OP. Take Disney Springs as an example of a comparison. Nice aesthetics and booming business. What is the comparison of retail space per capita in the OP. The US has a ton, ton, ton of commercial real estate per capita. Nowhere else in the world even begins to compare.

I love the Mall of Asia. Manila is probably one of the safest city's in the world. If they could just push for education and stomp out corruption ie Bong Bong Marcos. They might not be the sick man of Asia.

I'm working on my 36 month plan to do this. I got 29 months left and im looking at Sabong, Palawan where the underground river is. I get to go every 3 to 4 months, I live in Guam and it's 300 round trip. That's a good plan

Malls, Walmarts, and airports are good indicators of what the lower stratum of people in this country are like now. There is a huge third world nation living inside of our country. Once they all get to vote we are California.
