re: Comey indictment misquotes Comey. Bad form for a prosecution involving what was said.

you’re saying is that Comey is going to get off on a technicality because The indictment was incorrectly worded.
I don't know how to break this to you...but the law IS technicalities. I was told this on the first day of law school. "This is LAW school. Not JUSTICE school."
But, I appreciate the sentiment, and will change the title, because I have been convinced that it's not a slam dunk. Yay PoliBoard.

Pretty sure that not why you got downvoted

I'm here to learn. Downvote because they think I'm lying or just because it's me?

ETA: I wasn’t one of them btw

anti-Comey types
A constitution-loving, no-one-is-above-the-law, anti-corruption libertarian would proudly describe themselves as anti-Comey.
…but then again, the person i described doesn’t have much in common with you.

So if you think he should be in jail, explain the charges. Perhaps the Justice Department will take up your suggestions.

In the context of this discussion, I'm not letting teams or individuals overtake rational analysis of the situation.
We can judge individual acts of Comey on their own within a libertarian lens, but it isn't going to be relevant to this thread, so it shouldn't be discussed here.

Who is Daniel Richman?
What is Daniel Richman is going to be the big question.
Posted on 11/17/25 at 8:12 pm to Jbird
No his relationship to the FBI.
Take this X post:
The question (in 2017) was phrased as "someone at the FBI". Richman wasn't an actual FBI employ/agent and had a weird role, hence why Mike Davis keeps repeating that like an autistic kid.
Just because Richman has a relationship with the FBI doesn't mean he qualifies as "someone at the FBI". That's why the original testimony may not even be perjury (and why you see the Orwellian stuff by the admin on Twitter like the Davis post above).

Exhibit 10 shows FBI special government employee Daniel Richman (aka "Michael Garcia") is leaking--as an anonymous source--to New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt on behalf of then-FBI Director James Comey.
Comey testified to the Senate Judiciary Committee he never did this.

Put in your work libertarian!

Richman was a Special Government Employee but left in February 2017.

These text messages are from May 11, 2017. Comey's testimony to Grassley was on May 3, 2017. Kinda hard to testify about something if it hasn't happened yet. Also, Comey was no longer FBI director as of May 9, 2017.

In the context of this discussion
I’m not here to debate the legalese. There are lawyers on both sides who believe the legalese is in their favor.
I’m here to point out that context of this discussion is that you’re (predictably) trying to give being “anti-Comey” a negative connotation:
quote:
It is an interesting theory and something the anti-Comey types gloss over, for reasons we should all know. Basing perjury charges off present comments on past (unprosectable) perjury is certainly a take.
Even if this case were to proceed, the entirety of the system would work to get him acquitted (and they will be successful) and you’d be giddy and gloating about “MAGA taking Ls” while this country tilts further towards unsalvageable.
Your posting much more about why Comey should skate here than you ever have about him overseeing crossfire hurricane is the lens through which your posts need to be considered.

This isn't even true. I've posted about CF and the larger implications (including executive privilege, immunity, and quasi-immunity) at length.

Comey is a shite heel.
He betrayed his oath.
Everyone on this board knows it.

JCDS is real.
This man, as director of the FBI, personally signed warrants with falsified information and assisted the HRC campaign with the intention of stamping out political opposition.
Your reaction is to marginalize disgust with Comey and the corruption he actively participated in.

From the hearing this morning on the motion to dismiss for vindictive prosecution.
