How about you watch the piece that carefully explains it?

Oliver strikes me as a highly over rated monologueist..predictable and tiresome once you get his shtick. just my opinion..others may feel differently. That said, is what Oliver accused Murray of true or simply exaggerated criticism?? Specifically, what is he claiming Murray did?

Ditto, it's a top heavy industry that leaves it's workers worse off after they're finished. Coal is a sham and should be completely phased out of the energy sector within the next 5-10 years.

Watch for yourself. Among other things, lying about the reasons for a mine collapse, paying out bonuses of ~$3, and taking out massive bonuses while declaring bankruptcy.

Also having a rally where Hannity went total creep mode.

Watch the piece. He did nothing more than his usual stuff. It's bullshite and he's got no case.

And anyone cheering for this is no better than the SJW pussies who shut down college speaking engagements.

Not sure about coal as a "sham".

But we certainly can and should take steps to remove it from our energy mix. Natural gas can pick up that slack.

After things like mines collapsing, there is always an investigation. What were the conclusions of any investigation? (I honestly know nothing of the situation).

$3 bonuses to whom? Were the bonuses a product of a formula based on that company's earnings, or a "Snidely Whiplash" decision by one man..Murray?

It's inefficient and harmful as both an energy source and job source. Burns dirty, extraction is devastating on local environment/economy, reclamation often isn't carried out properly, inefficient compared to other energy sources, etc... It's was great for spurring the industrial revolution but it doesn't belong in the 21st century. You can debate/defend the merits of Nat Gas/Petrol but coal is dead.

Maybe he should've called him "vermin" over and over and over and over again.

We may be talking across each other. My position was not on the validity of a defamation case. I was curious about the claims that this individual...not a company or industry..is somehow corrupt or an "evil capitalist", unlike Oliver's 5 million for talking..which makes him and other rich leftists "good capitalists".

No point arguing with you since you clearly haven't and won't actually watch the video, but that was never once his claim, or even hinted at really.

He can afford the frivolous lawsuit. He wants Murray exposed and that's what he's getting. Murray is a piece of shite and now a lot more people are going to hear about it

So in your world if you do not like them John Oliver can say anything even if its not true.

What did John Oliver say that wasn't true in that piece?

I agree with most of that. In the framework of efficiency of other energy sources, how do you feel about throwing more money at green scams like wind and solar? Just curious.

LOL, well if you think wind/solar are "scams" then this will be an exercise in futility.

We're able to produce enough energy off of both in the US alone to power the entire world. That said, the issues with solar and wind are a mixture of efficiency and distribution. The remedies for those are technological advancement largely in the efficiency and storage capacity of batteries, unlike coal which is and always will be inefficient in every facet.

Wind is a local-based energy which is largely ineffective in the SE. Solar on the other hand will be making a very large boom within the next decade as the technology behind it is beginning to catch up with the market.
