But he did. And did well with it.
Trump wasn't going to all of a sudden get some great surge with black voting that was going to put him over the top. Even some of his biggest supporters (the ones who still think for themselves) said it was a bad move and probably cost him the election. I think it may have been Bannon who said that.

Dumbass. You are the one that started the whole exchange of Trump supporters linking MSM or left leaning outlets.

I'm not saying it was a dumb move. You're preaching to the choir about republicans needing to reach out to black voters more.
That said, he was never going to gain enough support from blacks to make it meaningful to the outcome because they're so entrenched on voting D.
Trump made a late push for black and Hispanic voters and it wasn't enough. Bannon and many others mentioned how he should have stuck with the same strategy that won him 2016.
I'm guessing Trump saw the real numbers though and that's when he made the push for blacks and Hispanics and when he saw that wasn't working, that's when he started his "they're gonna steal the election" bit.
Which is weird, because he started talking about the election being stolen months before the election was taking place. It reminded myself and many others of Hillary Clinton after 2016 election.
