Yeah, in the special primary, but a "special" primary is, by definition, not the usual primary.

And I'm not arguing for open primary states.

What I'm arguing is that in the usual POTUS election more than 85% of registered voters vote in it. It's really closer to 90%.

When only 9% of the registered voters vote in an election, yeah, you're getting the cranks who will light their own votes on fire to sabotage the other team. You're getting those people, and people who are voting strictly on name recognition and those with some personal axe to grind or connection to exploit. And you're getting so many of those people that they can overpower regular people like yourself.

If primary participation got anywhere near the participation that the typical POTUS election got, you'd see the extreme behavior become the minority instead of the majority.

It's not the primaries that are bullshite. It's the primary voters. Or lack thereof.

And ask yourself this: why does neither party push for more primary participation? I think they don't do it because they know it would hold them more accountable.

That's a damn fine point.

Around here it was kind of hush hush there even WAS primary and runoff voting. Local news covered everything but, it seemed like.

I actually got a coupla cats out to vote that didn't even realize what day it was.
