Here is one that I see often when engaging in banter with an NPC Prog. They default to this comment even when it has nothing to do with the ongoing conversation. Exactly what evidence would you like me to present?

To my knowledge, there haven’t been any cross sectional studies analyzing the prevalence of actual walk awayers vs bots, so I don’t know what evidence you expect me to find beyond my own anecdotal evidence. And I already presented the acnectdotal evidence I had, a friend who was a lifelong, hardcore dem and who has bought in fully to walk away. Knowing him since high school, if he is willing to walk away, I have to presume that there are others looking to do the same.

Obviously that’s imperfect evidence, but if we approximate that I know maybe 2000 people and that 1 of them falls in this category, then extrapolating that to the entire population would give us approxamitely 175,000 in the walk away movement. That’s probably a terrible estimate, but knowing which direction it’s skewed is impossible to tell.

Statistically speaking, yes, that’s a small percentage of the overall population, I’m not disputing that. My argument is solely what my friend who ‘walked away’ has communicated to me, that he’s sick of people like you diminishing his reality because it doesn’t fit the narrative that you’ve built. He’s sick of the things he cares about getting summarily dismissed under this guise that everything is the russians’ fault and that none of the blame lies with a democratic party that is increasingly telling him that his morals and his hardships don’t matter. And I oersonally doubt he is alone in that mindset. That’s all I’m trying to communicate.


And for the record, I often provide overly long text walls because I understand that every thought that becomes words looses a portion of it’s meaning, so I tend to over explain. That said, my last message was only maybe 300 words, and I don’t consider that to be a particularly burdesome read, so maybe it’s partially just a taste preference

Whatever the case, I’m simply trying to communicate a truth to you that you seem to be unwilling to consider: that ‘walking away’ is something that at least some subset of lifelong dems feel compelled to do. At least based on what I’ve observed from my personal social network. Overarchingly dismissing that is part of the democratic party’s problem.
