Floyd had been a drug and alcohol abuser. That puts you in harms way with the authorities. I am NOT backing the officer but there is not doubt that Floyd placed himself in a bad position. No different than jumping out an airplane. Sometimes the chute just doesn’t open.

the hell it was
If Derek Chauvin never got near Floyd, George Floyd would have still died at the exact same moment. It’s such a shock that someone who took lethal amounts of fentanyl died…

Which will actually end up being a 15 year sentence.
He won't even do 5 years. He'll be out after his trial is overturned.

I think the prosecution put the pedal to the metal and went extremely hard for a maximum of an outrageous penalty.
It made it a witch hunt and it didn't go as planned.

That depends on if it is in a red or blue state.

It's become painfully obvious that no matter how right you are, legally speaking, if the mob catches wind of your name, and protests / riots, you're going to jail for 22+ minimum.
Really, I think a lot of it depends on exactly where you are.
For instance, if I were in OKC or Tulsa or even Stillwater and the mob descended on my dwelling, and I defended myself and property with lethal force and extreme prejudice, I'd probably be up shite creek no matter the laws.
However, I'm in a much smaller and far more conservative area and people here just aren't willing to put up with the bullshite that they do in the metro areas. If I defended my life, family and property in the same way here, I would probably eat and drink in town for free for as long as I live, I'd probably be deputized, and I might even get the key to the city.
It's what I love about my area. A couple years ago, a guy across town had a grandkid who was approached by the local in-and-out-of-jail dope dealer who tried to sell the kid some pills. Kid is a good young man and immediately told his grandpa what occurred. So Grandpa makes one of the most hilariously ballsy moves I've ever seen. He finds somebody to draw a picture of the dealer's face, but not exactly just like him, just really similar enough that you know damn well who it was supposed to be. Grandpa then buys a half page advertisement in the local newspaper for four straight weeks that had the drawing plus the large, bold words,
SAVE A CHILD. SHOOT A METH DEALER.
That's how we roll.
I wish I could find that newspaper to post a pic of the ad. I saved it because it ccx was awesome, but I can't remember where the hell I put it. If I find it, I'll ETA this post.

They're really going to melt when his conviction is tossed on appeal.

quote:Funny thing is, very few people saw the meltdown. CNN's ratings are in the toilet. It bogles my mind, that any company would choose to waste money advertising on that crap channel that no one watches. You'd be better off hiring a guy in a chicken suit, spinning a sign next to a busty road.
CNN melting down over Chauvin's 22.5 year sentence.

We've hashed and rehashed details surrounding this case ad nauseum, and all appearances from the public video it appears Chauvin acted with malice aforethought. And he's shown not even a wisp of remorse for his actions since the outset.
Based upon what Chauvin's past record was and complaints, sounds like he was a bad cop, who walked the edge and occasionally stepped over it. He got what he deserved. However the world is making George Floyd out like he was a pastor who was preaching gospel at an church every Sunday. The man had a long criminal history. Committed a crime (reason police were called in the first place). And had a mixture of narcotics in his system at the time of arrest. Now, did he deserve to die? No, and the justice system has rendered its decision. But the sainthood of George of a little much..

I don't know his name, but I know his ex-wife.
Her daughter claimed sexual abuse and he went to prison on her testimony. Nine years later she recanted and said it was her uncle, mom's brother.

Sadly, this isn’t even hyperbole.
George Floyd Left a Gospel Legacy
quote:
Ngwolo and fellow leaders met Floyd in 2010. He was a towering 6-foot-6 guest who showed up at a benefit concert they put on for the Third Ward. From the start, Big Floyd made his priorities clear.
“He said, ‘I love what you’re doing. The neighborhood need it, the community need it, and if y’all about God’s business, then that’s my business,’” said Corey Paul Davis, a Christian hip-hop artist who attended Resurrection Houston. “He said, ‘Whatever y’all need, wherever y’all need to go, tell ’em Floyd said y’all good. I got y’all.’”
I emailed the author to note that when the person she interviewed said Floyd was helping with benefits in the neighborhood, he was actually in prison. They did not correct the story.

George Floyd's life was worthless. The world is a better place without him.

Too many of you are knighting for Chauvin.
Minneapolis PD and Floyd deserve each other.
