so if they didn't want to negotiate, it sounds similar to the fighting over Israel's borders with the Palestinians.

I doubt they will be slaughtered, there will be some SDF and Turkish fighters killed. Probably a few casualties of civilians from air strikes. In a few days to weeks the media, pro war republicans, and democrats will lose interest and move on to something else. I’ll come back and bump post in 6 months proving people stupid.

No, the main difference is that more people are aware of it because of the way Trump announced it. If there was no announcement, the invasion would have probably continued with the same assurances from the US not to interfere.

Turkey has a strong military machine and that usually matters. The poles were a dedicated fighting force til the Germans rolled the Panzers through them. Lotta brave men have DIED for their country. I served back about a hundred years ago so there is a point where your bravery and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee.

You kind of left out that the operation is to move refugees into a “safe zone” That the US and SDF officials have already agreed upon and SDF tore down fortifications to allow it to take place. Turkey has 3.6 million Syrian refugees there, they’ve been trying to get them out and that has been the agreed upon plan. Turkey isn’t going to be going in and attacking Kurdish civilians. I’ve already said in another post there will be Turkish and Kurdish fatalities among fighters. Trump has made it clear he doesn’t want turkey attacking the Kurds.
