Said last night on his Twittercast that Donald Trump is the most pro-gay rights president ever elected to a first term and that his platform on gay rights was more progressive than Obama's in 2008, Clinton's in 1992, and Carter's in 1976. He then said the purpose of political protest is to get a seat at the table and have your views heard by the President in an attempt to get legislation passed through Congress. This is why Civil Rights leaders like MLK frequently met with Kennedy and Johnson in the 1960s.
Megan Rapinoe, he concluded, is simply looking for attention because Trump has offered to hear her out on multiple occasions, but the American soccer star has declined each and every offer for a meeting. This is due to the fact that modern American democracy dictates that you don't meet with someone unless they believe close to 100% of the way you believe - which is retarded.

What kind of legislation would she want passed? Protected class status? Because if that’s the case, it throws a big arse monkeywrench into the whole “they just want to be treated like everyone else” argument.

I’m a big Rapinoe fan, but if it’s true that Trump has offered to sit down with her and talk about the issues and she has declined or ignored them, then she needs to shut the frick up.

I'm gay and MAGA, and Rapinoe is the type of LGBT person who makes my skin crawl: so arrogant, angry, entitled, and selfish. She's not making her stand for anyone but herself, and in the process she's very publicly reinforcing the stereotype that all members of the LGBT community are bat shite crazy.
I really wish she'd pipe down and have a seat. Disrespecting the flag, the national anthem, and the office of the President is no way to make any point other than what I said above about her.

Not much substance could get addressed at the type of photo op “meeting” we see with these various Champions, but if WOULD give her the entre for a more substantive meeting.

That's been the battle cry, but that's never been the end goal.
They like most modern protesters want preferential treatment. They also want anyone who does not actively support them shamed and anyone who speaks an alternate opinion silenced.
