We're gonna be a minor country and let a superpower handle our defense so we can instead spend money on social programs for our homogenous nation. Then we'll have open borders and it will all go to complete shite.

You must think somebody or some Group just 'starts' a civil war, GA. Outside of some master conspiracy by major Players (CIA, Soros money, etc.) on a vulnerable Nation...civil war usually begins with small outrage, and expands exponentially.
Think of that Egyptian guy that set himself on fire...or the Syrian teens that sprayed anti-Government graffiti on a wall. Those seemingly small incidents brought civil war within a month.
Aside from that, the kind of conflict that would be most likely in a Governmental (dysfunctional) based scenario, would be one where gangs, militia, community groups, etc. simply stepped up to protect their security and property...and the (discredited) 'Civil Authority' tried to step in re the 'unlawful' *methodology*. I.e., lynching's and executions of know offenders.
Since Obama...this place is armed to the teeth. Probably the only reason that Obama left office; and that they believed they had cemented Hillary's election. Hell, if Hillary had won...what we now know (or soon will) is that for all practical purposes, Obama's Deep State had went rogue already...they just couldn't pull the plug because of all the people who gunned up. They let gangs (BLM, Antifa, etc. run rogue)...gut they realized without the support of Civil LE, the Military (where they only had people at the Top) and the armed populous...they would be screwed.
Enter Trump. Bought the Military and Civil LE...with real patriotism and bucks to boot. So the whole Leftist "fundamental change" has to rethink. They are now going the (pure) Democracy route. Importing illegals for the future vote. If or when that happens...then you'll likely see your "bravado" and "take up arms". If not...prosperity.

So saying that policies favored by the American left is more like Sweden than VZ implies that one is stating that the US will be exactly like Sweden?

That doesn’t speak to policy. That’s just the typical whinging on race as if that single factor will define the outcome regardless of policy. The fact is the policies advocated by the progressive left are European socialism and not banana republic, strongman socialism. What set the course for the Venezuelan disaster wasn’t single payer or high taxes, but price fixing at or below the cost of production and the theft. If the American left did enact single payer and raise taxes the result most definitely would not be exactly like Sweden but it wouldn’t be Venezuela.

I'm not winging on race. We do have way more people on the dole than Sweden. And more diversity quite simply means more different interests to cater to.

I never even knew it was possible, but I have heard TV pundits discuss the idea if they win the Presidential election and gain a majority in the Senate they would expand the Supreme Court to enough members to ensure everything thing they pass would be constitutional. well it's everything happening all at once, I believe the future has a breaking point that could start civil unrest.
Let's review some examples:
1. Unsustainable debt, down the road, I see a complete collapse of the America's economy. No one knows that reset button looks like. For now, we print money we don't have...How long can we do this?
2. Turning the other cheek to Muslims coming in here with their culture...no intent to assimilate to our culture, they want to change ours. Two Muslim women have already penetrated our government, you've heard them speak, they don't embrace American values, they embrace Islam.
3. The endless attack on white males...shaming them, mocking them and essentially beating us down for having a great country...we're called privileged and supremacists.
What puts me off is whites people are not suppose to have a country they can identify as theirs? ...America must be filled with every race and religion around the globe in one big melting pot? No other country welcomes this much diversity because they want to protect "their" culture.
4. The push to not build a wall at the southern board by own government is disturbing, thus allowing the flow of people beyond our infrastructure, not to mention the drugs and crime that comes along with it. Our compassion will play a part in our downfall? ICE reports are scary....
5. The push to legalize drugs...take note of Seattle and San Francisco's homeless problem there. Complete disaster created by liberals who are tired of locking up drug addicts. So let them take over the streets. Colorado, drugs and drug dealing are a problem at STEM HS. Another school shooting ...not to mention the Opioids epidemic.
6. The push to abort children, even after birth now...for the sake of "Reproductive Rights". Mercy, what are we doing?
7. The constant persecution of Christianity that we ignore is going on..."cuz majority"...again we placate to Muslims, and seem ok to beat down Christians in this country...it's a growing problem. How does Dearborn happen? People are afraid to confront Muslims, Christians not at all... This one is growing problem...Christians must stand up for God and his word/teachings...
8. The constant push of the LGBT community on America...Noting against these individuals, but they need to curb their activism...
9. The constant push from about 50% of Americans for more government (we can't afford the one we have now), 50% of Americans are in favor of Medicare for all. Congress fights over election results from 2 years ago, but Congress is going to take over a 2 Trillion dollar industry and make it work better? Put down the pipe
10. The constant attack on conservative judges...Look what Democrats are willing to do a good man like Kavanaugh. Democrats offered not one vote for him..That's insane
11. Silencing conservative voices, censorship is a growing problem...Using the IRS as a political weapon, unthinkable
12. 85% of our media is leftist propaganda machines
13. Public education is infested with liberalism corrupting the minds of young people. I know first hand having two children in public school...
14. All this none-sense about global warming designed to change our way of life in America...tax us to death and change nothing about saving the planet. Devilish...looks great on the outside but the inside will kill you
15. The constant attack on guns and gun owners rather than taking a look at why Students are killing each other. We have a crisis, it's drugs, and mental illness related.
16. The hatred on social media being spew by liberals towards Trump supporters or anyone who has a different opinion is scary... Look at how many people will not wear a MAGA hat in public... That's sad, but it's real, it's real fear...this fear is of crazy triggered people in this country, programmed by our educators and media...to take their activism to the streets.
17. Look at how media defends loons like Antifa
I could type many more issues, the bottom line is yes we're divided, a long way away from a civil war, but we have to be naive to think the future wouldn't have a war in it at some point with all things going on that are attacking our stability and prosperity,.... when history is filled with a bunch of wars...
So yeah, I fear for my children's future in America...
today isn't bad...but the tell tale signs are not good signs of long lasting peace and prosperity...
America will fall from with in...

Why would it not be exactly like Sweden? Any number of factors, and homogeneity not just of race but a singular dominant strain of European culture. But we do share the same general respect for the rule of law and have a history of generally good governance - something wholly absent in all of S America.

Venezuela was one of the most prosperous countries in the world prior to the implementation of socialism.
