I hate how the rainbow--which God made a sign of grace and mercy--has been co-opted by homosexuals to promote their sexual perversion.

Local transgender activist Monica Helms expressed her frustration that one of the crosswalks wasn’t done in the colors of the Transgender Pride flag, which she created in 1999.
WTF is the transgendered pride flag? A photo negative of the gay pride flag?

If they just mixed all the colors together it would be a mushy, beige-ish brown, right?...

Could be worse. Could have spent 2mm on removing statues.
Don't worry, New Orleans will probably be wasting money on this soon as well!

196k seems pretty cheap
Wondering why they didn't just ask for private donations?
Would have been aquired easily

There should be legal repercussions for willful waste of public money like this. Crosswalks serve a single purpose, to get people safely across the street. Spending on crosswalks should begin and end with public safety.
This makes it safer.

FAKE NEWS! As part of the redo of the crosswalks, the entire block was repaved in all directions. So no, it did not cost $196K to throw down some skittle paint on some crosswalks. It cost $196K to repave a couple of blocks (which needed it) and in the process, repaint the crosswalks with a few extra colors.
This is the exact definition of FAKE NEWS. Throw out an crazy fact (although technically true), and then omit a lot of important facts regarding how this money was spent.

My friend just started his career in Atlanta and said even though he lives 5 min from this area he avoids it completely now. Overrun with gays and a total freak show

I'd jaywalk before I'd set foot on one of those bullshite displays of stupidity

Revitalization of intown Atlanta and lots of other cities is largely due to gays.

$196,000 for 10 years could in no way fund the hiring of even one police officer, much less three.
Then I guess it is okay to spend frivolously.

They are usually at the forefront of gentrification, because they (usually) don't have kids that they're worried about sending to a shitty school, and they typically have a decent bit of capital for renovation. And, of course, fabulous taste.
