If this is true, this could be problematic for his self defense claim.
I am 100% for self defense, however taking a threatening stance like this would damage his legal defense of self defense.
Determination of fact is for the jury to decide, and anything that looks offenseive decrease the odds that the jury will find in his favor.
It would be interesting to see the video of the altercation.

Legally, the only thing that (is supposed to) matters is the situation surrounding the shooting itself.
Dude may be a piece of shite, but if he was really defending himself from a deadly attack then it should not matter.
But it sounds like the facts of this case are against him (if true), so his being a big a-hole should not matter.
Sounds like he is cooked.
This is not some "referendum" on self defense. This is just another self defense case, and the facts (as decided by the jury) will determine his not guilty/guilty verdict.
