The founding stock that carved the greatest civilization in history out of a wilderness were a part of this “cult”. Stay mad neckbeards.

I'm sure the Romans said the same thing during the height of their power. Weren't they polytheistic?

More power to you, rhetorically.

But LEGALLY, do you think that you are entitled to governmental resources in support of your efforts to bring Christian salvation to the heathen masses?
I don't think Christians are entitled to anyone's resources. I do think that Christians should have equal access to public spaces to share their message. And no, I'm not saying religious symbols alone do that.

And this is the reason we have protections in this country from garbage cults like this.
Protections from hearing a message? You don't value freedom of speech, assembly, or religion, do you?

Antipodes to a leftist calling Christians cult members? No. The number is higher.

But the point is he would not call someone a cult member in a public social setting where he COULD face immediate negative feedback.

Instead, he runs here to talk shite hiding behind her keyboard.

There’s a difference. I don’t run to DU and call them commies or cult members. That would be stupid. Similarly I don’t go to FSU boards and call them names. I consider that a weak thing to do.

The poster in question is a pussy where I come from. It’s like the car full of assholes that yell something stupid to a pedestrian while doing 45 miles an hour. No threat of being “corrected “.

That’s a big problem today as I see it. That use to be settled with a punch to the nose. Now that type of correction is considered barbaric. Horse shite. It teaches humility.

Why would a Christian CARE (one way or another) how another person chooses to seek the divine?
Speaking for myself, I'm pretty much a live-and-let-live kind of guy.

But seeing as how Islam is a direct rejection and refutation of the one and only essential precept of Christianity (the divinity of Jesus), I can see how many Christians would consider them in error, at least as much as atheists would be.

So, you should be entitled to preach in a public square. I agree, alongside the mullah and the Shinto priest.

You should be able (at your expense) to erect a cross. I agree, alongside a comparable statue of the Buddha and a mosaic of Shiva.

You should be able to place a creche at Christmas. I agree, so long as the Hanukkah menorah burns beside it and it is preceded by a Lughnasadh display.

Are we on the same page?

***post assumes the Incorporation Doctrine, which poster opposes in principle but acknowledges as a lost battle.

Asked by the atheist who can't help but participate in any thread that mentions Christianity.

Sure but we all know that in reality Christians haven't been 'given' equal access with anyone

It's 4 blocks from me. Do you spend any time at the park? I walk a couple of dogs occasionally there...nice place!
I had a feeling we were neighbors.

When the kids were younger we spent a LOT of time there, although not as much as the playground on Hernandez and 16th since it was even closer. My youngest loved playing around the old building they are replacing with the new activities center. And my wife still enjoys the occasional worm-drowning off the pier (when she does catch something she always throws it back - not that you'd want to eat anything out of that bayou!)

My only wish as far as the case was concerned would be that they held the Freedom From Religion idiots responsible for ALL associated court costs. Removing the cross would have been an unnecessary expense for the taxpayers, and they have wasted hundreds of billable hours tilting at this particular windmill - if memory serves, most (if not all) of the plaintiffs had never even laid eyes on it prior to their filing.

GAAtty70 is a perfect illustration that a poster need not fit the forum stereotypes.

On the SCOTUS thread, he is arguing that Trump should thumb his nose at Dems on nominations, because “We are right and they are wrong,” (and we have Mitch).

Here, he is being attacked for expressing religious tolerance.

Coexistence isn't the problem. Christians are not taught to convert or kill.

Logically speaking, not all religions can be "right" and truthful because they contradict each other. All can be wrong, one/some can be right, but not all can be right.

That said, Jesus said He is the way, the truth, and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. That's an exclusive message that excludes all other religions in terms of how we are made right before God.

Edited to add the "not" in Christians are not taught to convert or kill.
