Cross targeted by atheists will remain standing on Florida public property

Finally something noteworthy from Florida (other than me )

quote:

A 78-year-old cross on public property in Florida targeted by atheist groups will remain standing after a victory in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals.

The court ruled Wednesday that the Bayview Cross in Pensacola, which was built ahead of World War II as a place for the community to gather, does not violate the Constitution.

quote:

“The Supreme Court has now made clear that religious symbols are an important part of our nation’s history and culture,” Luke Goodrich, vice president and senior counsel at Becket, said in a statement.

Moar winning

Some atheists, certainly not all, are attention-seeking wussies.

There are other religious symbols. If Crosses can be displayed, why can’t all symbols be on public property?

I get that there are other religious symbols in the world.

Why would a Christian look forward to any of them being displayed?

Our Constitution has always placed equal value on religions. Always.

Because they come with Christian symbols. All will have to be equal in the eyes of our Constitutionally driven laws.

I don't think you understand the concept of "historical significance"...

I believe it would be far more likely atheists would go after Muslim or Buddist symbols before a Christian group would.

Christians generally aren’t pluralists. Christianity is an exclusive religion.

So why would Christians “look forward” to other religious symbols being displayed?

Do you understand that the Constitution is above historical significance?
