You might report on just when the new Brazilian crop comes in too—-hint it will start as early as the end of this month.

I think most here don't want long-standing tariffs. However, even more, they dislike IP theft and tariffs by other governments.

Link to one single post I have made in defense of China.

I have posted facts about China you don’t want to hear but that is about it.

You people wanting to screw American manufacturers and consumers with tariffs so US multinationals can invest more in China are really crazy.

IB you are being childish, you can Google and clearly see Brazil is importing from the US and exporting to China, they cant suddenly shat 100 million metric tons of incremental soybeans.

According to the USDA numbers, exports sales from the US are down slightly, so where do you think they are going??? They are leaving the US and china is getting a supply, explain to the board how Brazil doubled their crop....perhaps obama's magic wand???

We have products that are sourced to China.

When the tariffs came around, we ordered many, many extra containers of product. I only imagine many people with sourced products did the same.

That and the soybeans stacking up. But that is not some surprise is it?

Here is another nice quote or two from the Japan times....

quote:

China’s December exports unexpectedly fell 4.4 percent from a year earlier, with demand in most of its major markets weakening. Imports also saw a shock drop, falling 7.6 percent in their biggest decline since July 2016.

Analysts had expected export growth to slow to 3 percent with imports up 5 percent.

“Today’s data reflect an end to export front-loading and the start of payback effects,

quote:

China exports to the U.S. declined 3.5 percent in December
(They were up annually 17%)

Explain how you consider this topic spam???

It is the lead story of the morning.

NOTHING has altered the lives of Americans more in the 4 months. The S&P 500 has lost $3.5 trillion in value. The costs and threatened cost across the supply chains that exists today are HUGE.

Now if you like I can conform and post only Trumpkin subjects that are literally beat to death day after day on this forum. How many threads are there about the shutdown? 50? 100?

Give me a break. Just because the OP is a discussion of a fact you don't want to hear does not make it spam.

You are naive as you can be----
quote:

SAO PAULO, Sept 25 (Reuters) - Brazil, the world's No 1 soy exporter, is expected to import around 1 million tonnes of the oilseed in coming months from its largest global competitor, the United States, as local supplies dwindle, according to Sao Paulo-based grain trader Agribrasil.

It would be the first time that the South American nation, an agricultural powerhouse, needs to import large volumes of soybeans from the United States - a result of massive exports by Brazilian soy producers to China in recent months after the Asian nation slapped a 25 percent import tariff on U.S. beans.

The deals will be necessary to supply Brazilian soy processors in the inter-crops period as most of the beans produced in Brazil in the last season have already been sold or are booked for exports, Agribrasil's CEO Frederico Humberg told Reuters on Tuesday.

"We are going to see American soy entering Brazil pretty soon," said Humberg, who founded Agribrasil in 2016 after having worked for years in some of the largest firms in the sector such as Bunge, Glencore and Gavilon.

Humberg sees Brazilian soy exports reaching 80 million tonnes this year, a sharp increase compared to the 68 million tonnes shipped last year.

1 million tons is nothing. A mere inventory adjustment.

You will note they have little inventory---almost none while the US carries over a record amount of inventory and the Brazilian harvest will soon come to market. If the trade war continues the largest consumer of soybeans in the world will continue to go to Brazil and Argentina first before buying US beans. Our inventory will eventually correct through consumption, sales to other countries and rot be we will never plant the acres again we planted in 2018 if the Brazilians continue to ship the Chinese at the levels they are because they will dramatically increase their acres.

You can live in this dream world you have that this trade war has been great for America but you would have more creditability if you would just learn how to think for yourself and do your own research.

Same thing happened with imported Vietnamese catfish. The 2 months before the new usda inspection rules took effect they flooded the market with imports. But imports have been down since

I will put you down as saying all Americans directly aid a communist state government. You will also note that all Americans supporting the tariffs are helping the Communist State Government more than than the average American importer because they are working to insure more American investment in China as the 301 directive deals with that very issue.

Not a single link to support this foolish statement.

The Brazilians have virtually zero inventory of soybeans and the US has a huge record inventory and you are arguing that we didn't miss China as a customer.

Be real trinidad

You can support tariffs and acknowledge the bad too. You don't have to twist and convulse in defense of the policy.

Sorry to pile on but your contentions are so far from reality I had to post more facts for you

quote:

Chicago — US soybean net export sales for the 2018-2019 marketing year were at a high of 2.835 million mt for the week ending December 13, up 285.38% from the previous week, Department of Agriculture data showed Thursday.

Register Now This week's report reflects the first round of buying from China since the 25% tariff on US soybeans was implemented in July.
Since the 2018-2019 marketing year began September 1, total commitments -- cumulative exports plus outstanding sales -- were reported at 27.538 million mt, which is 30.1% below the same period last year. The total commitments represent 53.26% of the USDA's 51.709 million mt estimate exports for the entire marketing year.

The highest volume sales were reported to China at 1.561 million mt, followed by Mexico at 324,349 mt and the Netherlands at 184,470 mt. Reductions of 231,578 mt were reported for unknown destinations.

Exports for the most recent week were nearly 1.338 million mt, 22.7% higher than the previous week and marked a marketing-year high. Total accumulated physical exports for the 2018-2019 marketing year rose to 15.414 million mt, 40.02% lower than the year-ago period, according to the USDA data.

The top soybean export destinations for the week were the Netherlands with 184,500 mt, Germany with 170,000 mt and Taiwan with 164,100 mt.

Logically with the Brazilians essentially out of the market for the next 6 weeks or so US producers will export more than the same time period last year but when that new South American crop comes we better be selling China something. No way we make up in 6 weeks a 40% reduction in exports.

There is absolutely no denying the pain the retaliatory tariffs the Chinese have imposed on soybeans has been painful. Only a fool would say otherwise.
