China keeps building hundreds of fixed silos alongside vast networks of mobile desert launch pads, China is creating a nuclear "shell game." It forces Western intelligence to guess which silos actually hold intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of hitting the U.S. mainland and which ones are empty decoys.

While the ghost cities were built on the assumption that people would eventually fill them, the missile fields are built on a military strategy where the vast majority of those silos are intentionally meant to stay empty in China.

Understand the shell game as it only takes one actual missile among 50 silos but nobody is aiming for silos, computers that operate them are better and easier I think. But whoever gets the quantum computer advantage wins the battle regardless. But those cities were built on idea of “they will come” while they were juicing up their economy. Those cities may never be rightly occupied

So the defense strategy needs to focus on how to id silos coming online, which satellite and AI tech should be able to do and then how to disable them before they launch or in the air.
Let them waste a bunch of resources building empty bunkers. Unless there is a major decoupling of the two economies, the idea that we would be lobbing ICBMs at each other seems pretty dumb. What happens to either economy if they take out the other would be a collapse of epic proportions.

The Chinese can have a million silos, but just 1 (ONE) of our nukes, ICBMs, artillery, or air to ground missiles have to impact the Three Gorges Dam to kill millions of them and impact several of their largest population centers
