Multiple police-driven vehicles used to transport Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot have reportedly racked up multiple traffic tickets that have gone unpaid despite the mayor's advocacy for stricter speed cameras in the city.

Two of the SUVs used to shuttle Lightfoot throughout Chicago have accumulated three speed camera tickets and two warnings in the past month. The tickets have so far gone unpaid, CWB Chicago reported on Monday.

Additionally, CWB Chicago reported that one of the SUVs in the mayor’s fleet has a red light ticket that has not been paid and two SUVs that were previously assigned to Lightfoot’s security detail have outstanding speed and red light tickets.

One of those SUVs is eligible to be booted and impounded over the lack of payment.

The old rules are for thee but not me. Seems to be a lot of that these days.

How has precedent been set in several other cities including my own about these cameras yet they are still in operation in other large metropolitan areas?

Fwiw I’m a proponent of the cameras

Sheldon Cooper says he has a right to meet his accuser. Went to jail for contempt for telling the judge he sits at the kiddy table in his profession.

Let’s be honest, if she paid it, it wouldn’t be with her own money anyway.

What bugs me is that it’s in her control to make it stop, and she doesn’t care enough to do so. The entitlement just never ends with her.

There isn’t an incorporated community in the United States that this statement doesn’t apply to. Practically zero places can sustain themselves on purely local county/parish and municipal taxes.

That’s the whole crux of the argument though. They must prove that it was you driving which is next to impossible to do. That was the challenge here and it was successful. Ergo, all the cameras were turned off

I don’t understand why so many people are against it tbh. Should cops not pull over reckless drivers either?
