The big problem here is not only that there's a lack of adequate infrastructure, but that the existing level of the technology makes having enough publicly accessible infrastructure in a place like Chicago financially impossible (for at least a looooong time). While the EVs:charger ratio isn't bad (at least looking at the unreasonable 24-hour window), many EV owners are likely having to charge every day in this weather. 12k EVs fighting for 3k total chargers (and only 1.5k being fast chargers) simply isn't going to work.

And that's just looking at it from a very generalized view, it likely gets more difficult once you start parsing out brands, fast-charging stations, etc.

Maybe the lull in Tesla's driving will give the kids in the cobalt mines a bit of a break.

i'm about to build a new house. i plan on adding a Tesla charger and getting one as spare car to run errands and such. they can fill a need, such as yours.

but wife and I will still have a real car/truck as primary.

Seems like a brag..."I've got EV money"

Yeah. If I had that kind of $$$ to blow it damn sure wouldn't be wasted on an EV.

that dude wears skinny jeans, carries a man purse, and uses pronouns on his company email.

Also claims he is not an EV fanboy, but here he comes to defend them in every damn thread.

There is a temperature range where the batteries can be charged safely. I am sure the numbers are in the owner's manual. The way to fix this requires a garage and a couple of space heaters blowing warm air under the car for several hours.

Go Woke. Go Stranded. So how long you figure before the grid can't supply enough power to the Charging Stations.

Hint: I bet your pal Joe Biden ain't driving around in one of them electric kiddy cars?

So how before you tree huggers blame Donald Trump for this debacle?

glad I’m always on your mind.

For the record I think anyone who buys an EV without at home charging is a moron.

Really just to correct people who get all their info on EVs from BoomerBook. But whatever makes it easier for you to sleep at night. I don’t give a frick what you or anyone else here drives.

Ok. If you say so, what you think doesn’t really matter. They work just fine for people who actually spent two seconds thinking before buying one.
