If you count all deaths regardless of whether it’s murder, accidental or suicide for everyone under 20 by way of guns, then yes, it is true at least according to the statistics.
~ 90% of those deaths are murders in the 15 - 19 age group, and ~ 8% are suicides in the same age group.

It's actually true. I thought the same exact thing and immediately went to Google to confirm or debunk, but it's true.
As of 2020 guns are the #1 cause of death for people ages 1-19.
However, as this article below says, roughly 30% if those are suicide. And although there's no statistics to back this up, you have to know that another vast majority are gang related or drug related gun deaths amongst mid to late teens.
This is the shite that pisses me off. They use these broad statistics to put fear in the public by making it seem like kids dying in schools by shootings make up more deaths than any other cause of death however if you read deeper, you'll see the truth is a very small percentage of those gun deaths were mass shooting or school related.

I’m gonna call bullshite on this because, A. NBC reported this, and B. Less kids in those age ranges died from cancer, drug ODs, and auto accidents?

The gun control set at CDC isn't counting real kids ages 0 to 12. They add in adolescents and young adult gang bangers to salt the statistics to fit the politics. At various times they have counted anyone 24 or under as "children."
