review of their objection and the possibility of a general officer letter of reprimand (this is an Army organization).
Everything I’ve seen and heard points to all discretion being removed from 3 and probably 4 stars. They don’t want any sort of signalling by leadership that they think this is all bullshite. Don’t be surprised if that “review” is a farce and uniform punishment is mandated by civilian “leadership” the very top.

Trump should commit to bringing them back with promotion and back pay once he is back in office.

Did you, as a contractor, get a pass from the mandate?
I am hoping you did.

Hmmmmm, so, maybe all 27 were just unbecoming and unfit to wear the uni in the first place? Whatever, Bing Bong. Oh, and I'm not saying they deserved it. It makes better new for the sheep when someone "REFUSES" a lawful order.
Well said, komrade. I only hope the rest of the United States can join in Californias mask mandates as well.

The discharge is going to be under honorable conditions…. I don’t think the average person understands what you have to do to get a Dishonorable Discharge.
Dishonorable Discharge can only be given at at General Court Martial. A BCD can at a General or Special Court Martial. Administrative Discharges which these individuals received can only be categorized as Under other than Honorable conditions (a pattern of misconduct or serious offense would have to be proven) Honorable or General (under honorable conditions) are the most likely discharges for these individuals unless they had other issues to go with refusing the poke.
It is a lawful order to order someone to get the vaccine. I have requirements I must meet every year medically. Vaccines are a part of my requirement. Plus for deployments, have additional requirements that I must meet depending on where I am going. It is what it is… you don’t want the Vaccine get out? That is your choice.

Only 27 of all the Air Force didn't get the vaccine? I find that hard to believe

No, the first members discharged.

You have to be court-martialed to receive a punitive discharge.

And it is still to be determined what the characterization of their discharge will be (again, this is an Army organization). It will probably be a general discharge under honorable conditions.

I am a recently retired colonel (37 years of service) so I know a little bit about what I am talking about.

WASHINGTON — The Air Force has discharged 27 people for refusing to get the Covid-19 vaccine, making them what officials believe are the first service members to be removed for disobeying the mandate to get the shots.
The Air Force gave its forces until Nov. 2 to get the vaccine, and thousands have either refused or sought an exemption. Air Force spokeswoman Ann Stefanek said Monday that these are the first airmen to be administratively discharged for reasons involving the vaccine.
None of the 27 sought any type of exemption, medical, administrative or religious, Stefanek said. Several officials from the other services said they believe that so far only the Air Force has gotten this far along in the process and discharged people over the vaccine refusal.
As a result, they were formally removed from service for failure to obey an order. Stefanek said it is also possible that some had other infractions on their records, but all had the vaccine refusal as one of the elements of their discharge.
According to the latest Air Force data, more than 1,000 airmen have refused the shot and more than 4,700 are seeking a religious exemption. LINK

Congratulations on retirement, I’ve been in the military justice system the past 10 years and currently at a base office dealing directly with the Covid vaccine. So I do know what I am talking about and I am currently spun up on the current issues surrounding the vaccine. I also worked directly with BCMR when stationed in DC so I understand ramifications of discharge characterizations.
I am not saying it’s a great situation but it is a lawful order and there are consequences to not following orders. Honestly, letter of the law all these individuals are getting the lightest form of punishment. I personally know some that don’t give a damn about the vaccine just using it as a way out of their service commitment early.
What do you mean this is an army organization?

It's such BS. I know of certain service members who were Covid positive and told by command NOT to get tested and instead take a long weekend because things were too busy at work.

quote:That it is an organization within the US Army? I am not going to be much more specific than that. I am not trying to speak to whether this is an independent decision on the part of a commanding general (I do not think so which is very troubling) or not. I am stating what they were told in a commander's conference discussing enforcement of DoD policy and the administrative measures being taken against those who refuse to be vaccinated. Nothing more, nothing less.

Are you saying the Air Force is an organization that still falls under the Army?

No he was referring to his experience with an Army affiliated agency.

Makes sense now that I read the rest of the thread… just reading his response to my post it comes off different.
You wouldn’t believe the number of LA National Guardsmen that think the Air Force is still under the Army because how the State operates.

I bet all 27 are white.
Maybe mixed in one Hispanic, just to make it look not so obvious.
