Why do you assume that the $9 difference is all profit?
Because the difference between the wholesale purchase price and retail selling price would be profit. Yes there is a cost to doing business. However, if that cost of doing business is 900% of the wholesale price one needs to find another business.

Not at all. Let's let it play out and see what happens. I believe that China needs our market more than we need their stuff. They will begrudgingly come to the bargaining table and agree to a trade deal....

Indeed. I guess it OK then.

You have no idea what this has caused in the background. “Most” people don’t.

If some of those impacts are negative it's not "fear mongering" to discuss them.
There are impacts to everything. Many of those "impacts" are negative. The impact of living is that we are going to die.

The fear mongering is by the media. If we all have to do a little more for the benefit of our country, so be it.

For now. Someone is always going to hurt. Probably everyone in some ways and at some point. Everyone here understood what a hard reset would look and feel like. At least people have claimed so for the last decade.

Your edit made the above reply irrelevant. And you also revealed a salty little tone, which I don't care to engage with.

The frustration is because the people who are hurting due to the tariffs aren't the same people who have been at the government trough for the last few decades.

They certainly benefited from the trade imbalance and nefarious economic polices of the CCP the last 40 years.

This is the first implementation. Nothing will ever be good enough for some on here and will cry regardless.

I assume she meant people who import goods that are now being tariffed, though it's cubs so she could mean the poor.

(1) What country were the goods exported from?

(2) Were you previously paying zero import tariffs? If so, then the blame lies with the prior administrations for allowing this to occur.
