What kind of leverage can they possibly have on him? He must've done something very stupid and bad.

Impossible Cassidy. This is a fight for the religious right to impose their will on women. And a major victory..... Never mind it's already being swatted at in state courts
There is no honest atheist that believes a baby becomes baby just because it comes out
I honestly don't care whether you call it a fetus or a baby, there is no difference in the person oh, the human life, between 10 weeks and 40 weeks
This argument about the term baby is a complete straw man

Other "Republican" gubernatorial candidates better remember every bit of this and have this guy on blast in their ads.

Too bad there isn't a recall option for senators. The 17th Amendment needs to be amended so that senators once again serve at the discretion of the state's legislature.

If you read the article instead of the headline he actually said it will get swatted away by the SC if it is as bad as the Democrats say it is and that they are only using this law to deflect from their covid and Afghanistan failures. Im a staunch Cassidy hater but nothing he said here is egregious

I am as pro-life as one can be, and I must admit that it is kinda fun to watch abortion supporters frothing at the mouth and going into paroxsms of angst in response to the SCOTUS decision in the Texas case. But there are a lot of conservative pro-lifers who do not see the Texas case as the winning case to overturn or diminish Roe. Indeed, I think that Cassidy is right that SCOTUS will not support the Texas law when it is subject to full review on its merits. The "swat it down" language is unfortunate, but I think that Cassidy is generally right on this. And, I might add, Cassidy is firmly pro-life, and I don't see him shifting on this issue.
Instead, my sense is that the best start on overturning Roe (or at least gutting Roe) is the Mississippi case, which is a much more straightforward challenge to Roe and that will give the conservatives on the court a chance to set Roe on a downward trajectory. The fact that SCOTUS agreed to hear the Mississippi case in the first place--even though it directly contradicts Roe and could have been easily dismissed without full review--is very promising. I do not see the Texas law as the best shot at changing abortion jurisprudence in the country.

The fight to preserve the life of the innocent unborn is considered imposing the will of the religious right on women? I guess as a Christian I’m ok with this imposition of my Christian sensibilities on women and men who willfully commit infanticide. Someone has to take a stand and hold people accountable for the slaughter of millions of babies.
