Christopher Stanton Georgia, a 53-year-old accused Capitol rioter and portfolio manager from the Atlanta area, was found dead in his home. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office told Heavy that the cause of death was suicide. Georgia died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest, they said.

The docket sheet in D.C. courts says that Georgia was charged with “unlawful entry-public property.” He had a court appearance on January 7. The case was a misdemeanor. He pleaded not guilty and his rights were asserted. His attorney had already filed an initial discovery request. A neighbor told The Sun, “He was a loving father. I never heard him speak badly to anyone about anyone. Always had a smile and loved cutting his own grass.”

Very sad outcome

Wonder how many folks commit suicide for misdemeanors?

Only thought I had was upset on the home front from arrest fallout or social media harassment. All that comes to mind immediately. Otherwise, misdemeanor doesn’t seem to rise to the level of causing a suicide.

That sucks. Hardline approach for a man that was invited onto the property by the police. Sad. Dims are sick.

The percentage goes up when you realize Biden is scheduled to be sworn in and you are a law abiding citizen with a squeaky clean record.

There's got to be an investigation into this. That's crazy they would invite people into restricted areas and think theyd keep their qualified immunity.

If anyone of us did that we'd be under surveillance for life and on the no fly list.

Very unfortunate. My guess is this was going to effect his job, losing clients or his job.

ETA: or maybe he was planning this all along and this was his last hoo rah

Who knows for sure, but I’m inclined to agree with this. Fear of cancel culture possibly combined with ongoing depression, etc.

Not sure some can accept how absolutely cruel the world has become. Who knows if he had other personal issues or secrets that would come out. To normal Americans having the Federal government bring charges on you is a huge deal.

A white father and husband and portfolio manager in the burbs can be canceled very quickly now.

It appears his charges were more related to the curfew and not entering the actual building unless I read it wrong.

Sad. Dude likely got locally doxxed and couldn’t handle losing business. On top of that, this whole situation is pretty depressing in its own right.

If you read the article people were tweeting his employer. Perhaps he was losing his job also.

Certainly not a reason to check out but some people take adversity better than others.

The takeaway here is the demonization of a set of people (Conservatives) to a political end.

It wasn't right to enter the capitol but a great many people were let in by Capitol police and basically took a self guided tour. But cancel culture doesn't care about that.

Maybe the cops let the protesters in because there were so few of them to stop the onrush of people and they didn’t want to get run over

If you spend two minutes in Jake Tapper Twitter post (I know) you can see just how horrible Dems can be .

Right. Because we all know the average democrat has a portfolio that needs tending to.

I've definitely witnessed a suicide attempt by a guy currently being booked in on misdemeanor domestic violence. Stuck a ballpoint pen to his throat, and started slamming his head, pen first, down on the booking table. Hands down one of the craziest things I've ever witnessed.
