Mike Rowe had some actor guest on (I think the camera guy from Don't Shoot Me), and he's Canadian. He was in the US for hip replacement surgery because he had been waiting 4 years in Canada.
There's a couple of retards I work with that wouldn't believe that and would still think Canada has better healthcare system than we do...
Leftist retards who can't see more than 2ft in front of them.

I don't know about Germany but in the UK you can see the helpless mentality that it's produced. People in metro areas don't even think about self care for a small cut or something, it's straight to the NHS.

You obviously know nothing about a country with parallel health care systems.
You want to get your knee surgery in Canada, use you private insurance, EXACTLY what you just described and you can have it. You want the social care route you wait.
Now I ask you, if you walk into a hospital in the US, tell them you have got a bum knee, have nothing but medicare and see if you get that knee fixed in a week.
And by the way, your insurance is probably a lot less in Canada than the US, and you will not have to see 18 doctors and have 30 tests to get it fixed.

For Statutory Healthcare in Germany they pay 8.55% and their employer pays 8.55%. That is for individual and or family coverage. When you run the numbers their "premiums" really are that much cheaper.

The system is incentivized to hope that you die before receiving care.

Unlike the US where the system is incentivized to hope you die after paying your premiums.

I have lived in a country with a parallel health care system for the last 25 years.
I know living in a 3rd world location like La Place may make you think it gives you experience but it doesnt

I don't live in LaPlace. So you really have no idea what you are talking about. Keep talking and make yourself look more foolish.

For those that might suspect that this is an anomaly, it isn't. This is the norm and has been for quite some time.
Socialized medicine, is designed (they say) to give equal health care to everyone. But in reality, it denies health care to the poor and the rich just come to America to get the health care they need.
Similar in Europe.

He is talking about an elective procedure.
No, from the text in OP, the procedure is required by the govt of Ontario before he can get an MRI.

Canadian, European, and Australian health care are great for emergent, urgent, and primary care. Once you get into specialty care and non-life threatening surgery, it’s a nightmare to navigate.
I will continue to “pay more” for our system. The cost to access on demand care is something I do not want to give up.
Fair statement about the differences.

The entire process is elective, its not a heart transplant.
My point is, most act as if you will die in Canada without care. If you have insurance you go to a private doctor, the same as the US.
If you want a bum knee fixed, they want you to have it examined first and you have to wait. I say again, walk into a hospital in the US tell them you have no insurance but you want the knee examined tested and fixed.......and see what they tell you.

Knee injuries can be excruciatingly painful, as has been pointed out in replies above. Not getting it fixed isn’t an option. I don’t call that elective.
I’m not defending the US healthcare system. It’s a mess.
But socialized medicine isn’t an acceptable replacement. As I’ve said before, I’d be willing to allow marxists to have their way with these things, if they provided an opt out checkbox. I don’t want to pay into it and I don’t want to participate. No thank you.

“Elective procedure”???
TrinidadTiger, I feel sorry for those 2 brain cells bouncing around like ping pong in your empty brain.
I would say torn up knee, with most likely and ACL/MCL etc.. is not an elective procedure.
When your hurt like that, it’s not considered some minor deal.

All countries tout their healthcare systems among the best. It is a good thing our government would never lie to us….

The cheapest price in Flushing, NY is listed as $170 and the NYState average cash price is around $275.
MRI's go for as little as $300 these days.
The Canadian system is run by bean-counters who find that waiting lists are cheaper than being adequately equipped.
