Australia instituted the one control that made a difference: a ban.

How is this ban enforced?

Through law enforcement controls. If these law enforcement controls are not executed properly then law abiding citizens at unarmed while criminals are armed to the teeth.

I do not trust our shitty law enforcement in this country to either keep guns from criminals, or protect me.

We DON'T have "controls in place". We have law enforcement people reacting, sometimes capably, sometimes not, to situations because of LACK of control.

So what's your solution? Repeal a portion of the Constitution? Do you really want to compare a country with the population of Southern California and no bordering countries to the U.S.? Do you think MS-13 would care about a gun ban? Or are you suggesting you want a boarder wall and tight immigration controls?

Legit question.

It's a specious question because of its false premise.

I'll give you an analogy....

There's a First Bank of Dumbass in Dumbass, Louisiana. There's a sign outside the front door that says "please don't rob us." Nothing else. No security guards, no locks on the vaults, no form of prevention except that sign.

Well, the Dumbass Bank keeps getting robbed, despite that sign control.

So, what would make anybody think FURTHER controls would work if the one in place already doesn't?

That's the type of question the OP posed. It was specious.

The truth of the matter is that this is a Dumbass country with no true controls over gun massacres.

The obvious answer is the perpetrator was white and this only happened due to white privilege, if he had been Black the cops would have shot him when he was in 8th grade.

Do Australians have the same freedoms as Americans?

The individual freedom to own guns? No. The freedom of living without fear? They've got it all over us.

Are you suggesting a ban on all guns for all civilians?

Not true at all. Had LE done their job, he would not have been able to purchase the firearm where he did.

The Second Amendment doesn't have to be repealed. It has to be returned to its true original intent before an activist right wing Supreme Court overturned 250 years of legal precedent and perverted its meaning.

Do tell, what was it's original intent?

ETA: and the other portion of my question? You chose to use Australia as a comparison, how does that work logically?

Our founders allowed citizens to Own guns to prevent a tyrannical government, what is so hard to understand?
