As a Metallica longtime fan I would not want them for a halftime show. The reason is they are a 2 hour or so act.
One other thing…The Black Album sucks they sold out and became a rock band after And Justice. Then came back Metal in 2008.

Nah, give me some relevant current metal bands like Bad Omens, Spiritbox, Knocked Loose, and Sleep Token.
Why can’t we have a band that’s been culturally relevant this millennium? Probably because most folks on this board haven’t listened to rock music since grunge.

I highly disagree with this. I prefer 80’s Metallica like Puppets and Ride thd Lightning, but the Black Album absolutely holds up. It was their mainstream breakthrough for a reason. Great songs, great production. Load, Reload, and St. Anger were all arse.

DAC’s still alive, ain’t he ? He’d balance things back out nicely.

If Darkness Had a Son is a pretty good tune

Hey, I like that. Not a Kid Rock fan or Metallica fan (as much as earlier), but a Kid Rock/Metallica combo would fit.
Also a Limp Bizkit/BReal (Cypress Hill) combo could get some juice.
Probably too late for a Rage Against the Machine/Snoop Dogg reunion?

Is there anyone or any bands out there that are not pushing 70 making any music that they can play live and put on a good show?
The Killers

Okay I got it (writing this halfway tongue in cheek). Seal and Oliver Anthony in a semi duet! Supposedly Anthony was already approached to do a national anthem, so he's on a list somewhere. Throw in Seal for the black audience, and maybe a third angle, like maybe someone like Nancy Wilson (Heart if her voice is still there) or someone else with a bold female presence (Adele? Sia? Santigold? Karen O?). Yeah I miss hard rock as the driving force to American radio, but the sad facts are that promoters don't promote rock singers, and radio stations were all bought out to where there are not any great energy rock bands anymore. The Killers are okay, but I look at them about the same as Tame Impala, some good music, but not enough hype for the supabow.

Ye and Barbara Streisand. That would get a few looks.
