Excuse me if I’m not imforned enough, but some DACA Dreamers have been here over 30 years. They aren’t citizens.

1. Is there not a path for Dreamers to become US citizens?
2. If so why haven’t Dreamers who are adults become citizens.
3. If deported can they not apply for citizenship?

I don't care if they've been here 80 years. Ship their arse back to Mexico. I don't want them here.

Compromise:

Merit based immigration without lottery and chain migration.
Effective border barrier, the wall. Plus, fast effective deportation of illegal aliens.
Dreamers can stay as residents. No citizenship, no welfare, and deported with felony conviction.

Do you know what DACA stands for? Check the meaning of the first word and then look at the terms of DACA.

Are you one of those people who got an ARM mortgage on their home and then couldn’t pay the increased payment when the rate changed?

Why would we allow people to steal citizenship?

There is no path.

No. If they've been in the country illegally, they cannot apply for citizenship.

I’ll even throw them another bone. No citizenship now. All must register within 6 months for...

TACO!
Trump Act for Citizenship Offenders. They take citizenship classes for 6-12 months and then become legal citizens. They do anything in that time to get in trouble.Buh bye. Don’t register? Buh bye and don’t cry when ICE come uh knockin

No. Currently they cannot because they were brought here as children by undocumenteds. Unbelievable that people on this board don't know this.

Don't feel bad. After reading threads on this board the past few days , it's pretty evident that probably 95% of the people on this board are as clueless as you are about this.

Good point. What documentation does a 40 year old have that he has been here since 88?

Yes, the same path that is avalable for all.

Because they want a guaranteed spot at the very front of the line with 100% success rate regardless of merit or history, they dont want to be bothered with the rules.

What is your idea on a fair solution to this mess?

There is actually a way for DACA kids to get citizenship ( LINK). But it is very risky to go that route. So very few people avail of that.

So for all practical purposes, there is no route for permanent residency (green card) or citizenship for DACA kids.

People will often hear the line "they should get in line" from immigration hardliners. The problem with that statement is that there is no line.

I am future immigrant myself. I am from India and have lived in USA legally since 2003. I have applied for green card in 2010 and am yet to get it. People from India who are applying for employment based green cards right now literally have a 50 to 60 years wait.

U.s. immigration system is seriously antiquated. Unfortunately most of the voters do not understand the details and start believing the one-liners that politicians and various groups with vested interest peddle.

The same as a 22 year old who has been here for a week, none.

I on the other hand have a ton of documentation, because my X3-great grandparents thought it was a good idea to migrate here and follow the laws.
