A lot of bitching and moaning here about facebook "censoring" all of these stupid websites
Here is some truth
So it's companies like this that Jjdoc is whining about being bullied by social media outlets?

Here is some truth
quote:
Facebook has banned the analytics firm Strategic Communication Laboratories and its political arm, Cambridge Analytica, for failure to follow its rules regarding the handling of personal data — and what may be among the largest abuses of personal data in U.S. history.
quote:
“The firm harvested private information from the Facebook profiles of more than 50 million users without their permission, according to former Cambridge employees, associates and documents, making it one of the largest data leaks in the social network’s history,” the Times reported. This may not have been a data breach, but user’s wishes certainly weren’t honored.

Here is an example, of Google:
Yes, you are correct that Cambridge Analytics was suspended for retaining profile data that they were supposed to delete. However, do you think they are the only company that has ever done this? Facebook is just pissed because everyone else (businesses, political groups) have to PAY for that information.
Also, they did not hack anything, they compiled the data through those stupid personality tests that ask for access to your profile.
The fact that they were made an example of may or may not have had to do with politics.

If you read the article they went beyond that and mined data from people that didn't give app permissions
And I still can't believe that people don't know that they're being data mined when they do those stupid surveys

“Without their permission” means “without paying facebook”.
There isn’t any privacy on the internet. I don’t know who or what this company is, but i do know it’s bullshite to prosecute a company for looking at public Facebook profiles.

I'm not sure why you think that this is the case

if FB was serious about this, i'd imagine 100+ companies would be banned from FB
this is political and people are calling for federal regulation. FB gave up one of the most hated companies (b/c they got Trump elected) to the DEMs as a sacrificial lamb as they beg to avoid regulation
that's all this move is about

Perhaps your right
But reality is far from the narrative that some here want it to be. And that narrative is that companies like Cambridge are just great bastions of conservative truth that are being discriminated against and censored.

No, that really isn't the narrative. The narrative is that if Hlllary's team had done this and been victorious we wouldn't have heard a word about it (except perhaps fawning "60 Minutes" interviews with campaign wunderkind Robbie Mook).

It's easy to create a narrative in a fictional universe that doesn't exist

basically
and if you want proof, look at all the slobbering that was given to Obama's data operations in 2012. no way that was 100% kosher to be that effective (unless FB was illegally giving them the data directly)

But if they're really just slime balls who cares if they get suspended from facebook?
There is no shortage of conservative viewpoints on social media

well it makes a big difference for elections if the similar DEM data firms aren't suspended as well. CA was a major, possibly THE major, reason why Trump won. he had the better data operation. if FB is picking and choosing which party gets to use FB to win elections, then that's a huge difference.

Especially if Mark Z runs for president
