But I, for one, believe these women.
Most of us weren't alive in 1977, but I have a dad and uncle who are exactly Roy's age and who came of age in north Alabama. (No they didn't know Roy.). My point is that it was a different time and guys got away with a lot of shite. Most women kept their mouths shut.
I could tell all kinds of tales about men in my community abusing women and even their own wives. Women getting beat up and staying quiet wasn't rare. And yes this happened among church people and church leaders. Back then you could get away with it, but today not so much.
I think Gloria Allred is a POS who wants the spotlight, but her client is either a very good actor or telling the truth. And the whole "do you want a ride home" in the pickup truck and "I am the DA, ain't nobody goona believe you" sounds so much like 1970s Alabama good ole baws.

True or not, I don’t think it really alters his image. Nobody that’s followed this guy’s career thinks he’s a normal dude. He rides a horse to vote, plays cowboy, and whips his small hand gun out during campaign rallies.

I grew up in a small southern town in the 70s.
shite like this was happening all the time...women were property even then they couldn't get their own credit cards until 81.
I have zero doubt these women are telling the truth...
...it's usually those who scream the loudest about how pious they are that are hiding the most.
